My next-door neighbour has invited me out to his sports club tonight to play "Prellball".

What do I need to be prepared for? I'm an averagely un-fit 40-something . . . . blink.gif

Thanks for any and all pointers.

p.s. he did mention that "bier" would be involved, but I'm assuming this is post-game rather than pre-, during- and post-

Google. Do you use it?

It looks like a cross between Volleyball (Without the net) and Dodge ball.

Prellball

QUOTE
Basically there's 4 men on each team, the court is about the size of a volleyball court and instead of a net, an elastic "bungee-like" line divides the court about 2 ft off the ground. From there it's like volleyball in reverse. With an underhand swing and thumb tucked into the fist, the ball is served low and fast, barely above the string (as horizontal as possible) in an effort to make the ball bounce in the receiving teams court before they can hit it (1 point). The receiving team must strike the ball down so it bounces within their side of the court, after which they can bounce it twice more within their court before it must be sent back. Each player may hit the ball only once until it has gone to and returned from the other side. Players hitting the elastic line with any part of the body gives the opposing team a point as does being the last to touch the ball before going out of bounds or hitting the elastic line with the ball. - Link

Sarcasm doesn't become you, @Darkknight

Anyway - thanks for the pointers. I did of course Google this before posting my original - but was unable to find any "inside track" / personal experiences from a non-German. So - if anyone can help in this respect, I'd love to hear from you.
