I didn't know you opposed the invasion of Iraq in 2003 though I grant you the rest I have seen. Your other views though do seem to confirm that you are on the American right on most matters, however.

You may not realize this, but neoconservatism's ideological roots are on the left. They also tend to be very much big-government types. You already know that is anathema to me.

Nothing remotely close to the right about Trotskyism or the New Deal (even for left-leaning Europeans).

You read right- look into the influence of Max Schachtman on neoconservatism and you won't see any traces of the right, but you will see thinking that TT's very own MonksTown would be very comfortable with.

We can certainly agree he's an ignorant idiot, this was certainly shown in the documentary.
Edit: A very quick scan of the interweb will show you that these idiots that practice this kind of barbarity don't all agree with what you claim.

Did any of you read the part of the article where she says that the niqab, to her, was about identity. "If I dressed in a Western way I could be a Hindu, I could be anything," she said. "This way I feel comfortable in my identity as a Muslim woman."
What the hell does a Hindu have to do with this? How did they affect her life? The stupid Muslim mentality is that of garbage. She thinks that if she put on a shirt, people will think she was Hindu. This woman obviously thinks lowly of Hindus to began with. Little does she know that when she puts on her black niqab or nijab or whatever it is, she really looks like Darthveder from Star Wars. But she obviously doesn't want to "look like a Hindu". Getting into the mind of these women is like cracking a thick coconut. It's just all mush inside and all about their Allah on the outside. I used to respect Muslim culture until I read their Koran which was scattered with death wishes for the Kafir, or non-believer.
Hmm...If she wears (god forbid), normal cloths, she'll maybe taken for a Hindu. What an asinine statement that a dumb Muslim can make. Someone tell these Muslims to go back home, where they can wear the nijab 24/7 and not offend anyone. What she said makes my blood boil. The Muslim mentality will kill us all for sure someday. I know Hindus from personal experience. This Muslim woman, if she had any respect for other religions, maybe someday, could think of wearing the ever beautiful Indian sari, instead of wearing a black potato sack over her head.
Stupid Muslim women.

i have no problem with people wearing symbols. i have a problem with people whom have religious garb/practices/whatever that interfere with the basic workings of modern society though. Call me close minded or bullheaded (I'm usually an open minded respectful type), but it's something that does bother me a little. Especially since 'the church' (referring to Christianity and related religions) has taken such a beating and a lot of their more public practices have been forced out of public venues and seperated from schools and the like.. if 'neutrality' is what is strived for, then it should apply to everyone.

Reactionary bastard that he is, former UK Home Secretary Jack Straw had a point when he said that his tlrance reached its limit when he found that he couldn't communicate wwith a constituent who had come to see hi beccasue she was completely veiled.
I'm not a big fan of the state banning stuff.
But if it does, then there needs to be a level playing field.
Wasn't there a story in the papers a couple of weeks ago about banning the wearing of relgious clothing by nuns and monks in German schools?

Ban the headscarf? then ban the cross, star of david and the government's unconstitutional governing of Religion (they collect taxes and classify every religion to government regulations)...
at that, ban Che Guevara T-shirts (after all he was the "heinrich himmler" of latin america), ban nike's for their corporate irresponsibility, ban microsoft because we are annoyed by capitalist that went out and did it and we sat on our asses, ban weathermen for always getting it wrong, ban the Bahn going on strike...how about just ban the Bahn, they are an evil organisation with an agenda to control us all, ban Döner Kebab, ban Coke Zero, because it's Tab by another name, ban Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they are too good looking, ban Gehard Schroeder, because he is too ugly, ban me from making another obsessive, beating a dead horse analogy...(BAM!...got hit on the head)

Since the time that i have been in Berlin i have come across a lot of anti turkey talk and judging by many responses i can see it is not only from locals. This city is like a safe haven. For those that want to ban what other people wear in Berlin maybe you should take a look in your ikea wardrobe at your h&m clothes and tell me your not brainwashed. and dont tell me they're cheap and look good.
Also many people tell me about Berlin being an 'international city' but as far as i can see its not as international as london/paris/newyork, i was never sure why but the longer i have stayed here the more i have come across quite racist mentalities. Not outright but to me still racist.
This is and always should be an open field. Slating a religion because you believe it controls people? creates wars? which countries in the world have created the most wars in the name of religion? Do you know which countries your country occupies currently? and for how many years?
I really cannot stand pigheaded people with outlandish views about muslims. These dumb people are like puppets on a string, getting 'facts' from tabloids and the internet without having a real opinion. Get a life, go on holiday. Try Malaysia and tell me how scary/threatening muslims are and how the mosques offend you.

As for banning them, well that's another matter but I certainly think that in any situation where a person is expected to present photographic ID (such as at an airport) that they should have to uncover themselves to be identified like everyone else.
I rather think they do have to show their faces, at least in Germany, last year we all had to wait in the security line at Frankfurt for a female cop to show up so the woman at the front of the line in one of them thingies could show her face to the cop.
