An event for all TT groups

Possible, or a fantasy idea?

I noticed many segregated groups but I am not sure whether many groups turn up to the Main TT events. Why is that so, just curious... blink.gif

I remember the times a TT drinking event had over 30 people and more. I recently went to an event and only a handful of people were around.

So what puts people off turning up besides the usual comment - I am away or busy at work.

This is a general discussion topic I am not pointing my fingers at any individuals or groups. smile.gif
Keydeck
In what way do you see the groups as being segregated? For example, I know people who go to the Friday Beer Garden, Curry Wednesdays and TT Tuesdays. The Curry night seems to be limited to 30 sign-ups...understandably, the TT Tuesday regularly has 25+ people in attendance and so on so I don't really understand where you are getting the idea from.

Was the event where there were "only a handful of people around" the Chewsday drinks last night? I wouldn't expect a huge turnout at any event directly after a bank holiday weekend.

Friday Beergarden gets well over 30 people these days, although I'm not sure that it's really a Toytown event, seeing as many of the people who come have nothing to do with Toytown.
Ravski
Keydeck, point noted

I was at the event yesterday, not more than 15 max, curry night has mix numbers. I thought this was a trend.

I just remembered TT Tuesday drinks use to be the main event as many have to go away on Fridays etc. I thought many groups have got their own TT events and not turn up to the main ones. Please correct me if I am wrong. smile.gif

I'm curious initially as to your definition of 'groups'. Do you mean the people going to the Curry Night as a group or do you mean separate groups of friends within those attending a given TT event?
MadAxeMurderer
I think he means in the good old days its was: lets all meet, get pissed, and dream of some group sex.

Now its invitation only groups rather specialised such as pregnant, single mother, hunchbacks between the ages of 29.75 and 33.27
Ravski
Max - you read my mind tongue.gif

Keydeck - groups like sex(m/f), nationality, age, interest - is that what you call a group of friends? smile.gif

Lets see how many people have an opinion

1. not many means the topic is crappy
2. not worth asking as everyone knows the real reason or people are not bothered.

Let the social experiment begin...

I have stopped going to groups to ensure my user name remains relevant.

Ravski I remember saying exactly this to you last night!

Perhaps you were just off with some other group at the time.

I sort of understand your sentence. Instead of thinking of it in terms of "There used to be one big group going out and now it's all split up" think of it in terms of "Toytown is much bigger than it used to be and so can cater to lots of different types of groups.". Someone who attends TT Tuesday might also pop along for a curry the following night and then go to the book-club meetup. There is a lot more variety in what organised events are now available. I don't see any segregation though.

Sure, there are specific things which don't cater to an open audience. For example, I'm not exactly in a position to toddle along to the inscrutable 20-somethings nights, but the point is that there are now enough people involved in TT to cater for the general all-encompassing nights such as TT Chewsday and the Curry Night (so long as they're not mid bitchfest) alongside more specifically directed events.

Have you considered that it might just be you? Perhaps people see your name on the the sign up sheet and run away? tongue.gif
Ravski
Keydeck - point accepted - but groups of 2 or three people does not constitue large group.

Segregation to the extent that you have to attend many events to meet the same bunch of people. smile.gif
Keydeck
Don't understand either of your two points above. Which event only attracts 2 or III people and who said that constituted a large group? Surely if there was segregation as you say then you'd only have to attend one event to meet the same bunch of people.

I'm sure there's a point that you are trying to make, but it is not coming across very clearly. Or maybe that's just my lack of understanding.

Eleanor - Thanks for being so senstive biggrin.gif

Keydeck, my points are clear enough. Nothing malicious just a general thought, got your attention anyway... smile.gif

I suggest you try to organize one event that will appeal to every single person on the board. Good luck!

Perhaps they are for most, but I don't get it. Could you perhaps answer my previous post and then hopefully it'll all become clear.

Talking this offline(which involves a few beers) - dont want this to be the Ravski and Keydeck show.

You know where I am coming from you cheeky bugger biggrin.gif

I genuinely don't. Just looking for a response to "Which event only attracts 2 or III people and who said that constituted a large group? Surely if there was segregation as you say then you'd only have to attend one event to meet the same bunch of people." in the hopes that I can understand the issue at hand.

TT is substantially bigger than it was 3 years ago and therefore able to cater to more specific groupings of people whilst at the same time retaining the same nights out, like the Tuesday drinks, which have always been there.
