POP ART PORTRAITS
“PopArtPortraits" is a collaboration between the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the National Portrait Gallery in London, where it was previously shown. The exhibition is the first to examine the role and significance of portraiture within Pop Art - one of the major art movements of the late twentieth century. It brings together 52 key works by 28 Pop artists working on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1950s and 1960s, including major portraits by Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Roy Lichtenstein alongside those of Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton, David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield.
A guided tour in English will introduce us to this interesting exhibition. Please register with Petra at 0173-995 94 45 or »petra.michel@arcor.de« by May 28. We meet at 7 pm in the entrance hall of the Staatsgalerie. Prices are 4 EUR for members of the MetClub and 10 EUR for non-members.
