Special Cocktail & Curry Night planned for 21 May!


This announcement spawned several enthusiastic replies that are now lost in the depths of the CN archives. Now, it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty and do some signing up on a separate thread.

Yeah, I know, this is the evening of the Champions League final. You just have to set your priorities (or ask Noor Jahan to show it).

You don't have to attend both events but it is a God Bavarian government sent opportunity to indulge in the best of both worlds.

Thanks, honey. The Potting Shed is a bit on the small side so I suppose 15 is the absolute limit. The Noor Jahan can surely take the regular amount of guesties.

I have just spoken to the barman, we will do numbered tabs. That means that you receive a number and a slip of paper, the staff notes down what you have ordered - and received - on your slip of paper and strikes the total off the big bill at the end of the evening. We used this method at Pschorr a few weeks ago and afaik it worked out dandy.

there are 30 on the list on the curry thread, and some have now signed up on this list. (that are not on the curry night list)... will there be enough room for everyone now?
I don't want to have to squish together because people couldn't make up their minds.

I have contacted the two signed up here but not on the sign-up list. One scratched, the other hasn't answered and two on the official list are doubtful.
Needs be any non-signees get the cat table and have to watch us early birds revel.

Wow, that was an amazing turnout! I'm sure that the Potting Shed loves us as much as I loved the Cucumber Martini, which was a lot. The Noor Jahan dealt with us in its usual competent manner (except for some long waits for drinks ...) and provided delicious food including real onion baghi.

Thank you all for coming and making the evening so pleasant. And I solemnly swear that the frog-crossing fences are real.

thanks for organizing Sara, the food at NoorJahn was plentiful, I was so full after my meal.

PottingShed, I either missed the comment or the note that the only drinks on happy hour are the martinis and long drinks, was kind of annoying to end up paying regular price for drinks I thought were happy hour. As it wasn't in the menu, and in thinking its like most happy hours around all cocktails, most of us ordered the normal cocktails only to have to pay 8.50 in the end. Was a bit of a sore spot with a few people.

The bad news is the fences are all away now so I couldn't take a picture this morning.

Perhaps you should organise a toad licking afternoon?

That was a great evening. I thought the cocktails in the Potting Shed were seriously alcoholic, and tasty. In other words well worth the money. I wish I'd understood the happy hour bit, but would probably have gone for the funkier ones anyway. At least there were no unclaimed tabs.

The onion bhajis in Noor Jahan were top class. As was my curry. As was the sauce from Pas's curry. And then some of us went off to the shamrock, where shame of shame, I bumped into people I know!

The cocktails were really potent especially the long island ice tea.

I ordered a lamb Dupiaza however I got a dish that resembles a lamb buna. But the lamb was very tender. Food was good and service very quick.

I even got a chance to practice the language.

Service : 9/10
Food 4/10 as I did not get what I order however an extra 2 marks for the quality of the produce 6/10

At my table the food arrived more than one hour after the order!

The upside is that at least we got what we ordered
I had sort of tandoori prawns and seafood and it was definetely excellent!
