Drunken Brit on a rampage in Au - Munich

Arrested before torching a motorcycle shop
sarabyrd
A 21-year-old Englishman (according to the police report - German link) was arrested in a motorcycle shop in the wee smas of last Friday, averting possible serious arson. He had already torched a Nissan, a Mercedes A-class and an Iveco truck (the latter being collateral damage) before breaking into a motorcycle shop in Auenfeldstrasse. There he donned a leather kit and a helmet and was attempting to ignite the gas issuing from an aerosol can with his cigarette lighter but gave up and hid in the back room of the shop when he heard the cops coming.

The police say he made a severely intoxicated impression when arrested. He was subjected to a blood alcohol test and remains in police custody until the judge decides on the DA's request for putting him in remand.

You gotta hand it to him, even when intoxicated he remembered safety precautions and wore protective clothing ...

Nothing. They just rebuild their cellars.

That's right! Nothing better than a good ol dungeon in your home.
But why bother with the basement when you could redo the living room!?

In fact we like it so much we even named a town after it:

I think I saw these burnt out wrecks just on Balan str, near Ostbahnhof. I thought that maybe a couple of Kreuzberg lads had come down to show the southerners how to have a proper May day riot. biggrin.gif
Dunno where Au is - is it by Ostbahnhof or have I seen a different set of 3 burnt out vehicles? Kinda reminded me of the Ely riots back in Cardiff in the 90's.
pootle
Bloody Hell the ely riots. I knew one of the guys who got stabbed up there and later died sad.gif He was a top bloke too.

Au is the posh part towards the river, nowhere really near ostbahnhof. Its the area right by the deutsches museum on the isar...

If you can handle the indignity of an 81 postcode, it's a nice place to live and quite a few TTers live there.
Ohlmüllerstrasse is the new place to go out I hear.

2.05.2008 on Friday, 02.05.2008, against 05.20 clock in that early, hit a 21-year-old Englishman the show windowpane of some motorcycle accessories store in the Au. In the interior, he got dressed leather clothing and mounted itself a helmet. Subsequently it poured out motor oil, chain spray and other inflammable fluids. Meanwhile became of a neighbor, who had become through the sounds attentive, the police notifies. When the officials of the police inspection 21 (Au) entered the business, the suspect used just an aerosol can as a flame thrower in that he held a lighter before the emerging gases. When he noted the policemen, he fled into the rear store rooms where he could be arrested shortly on that. At the same time it performed resistance. First ascertainments yielded that it shortly before its break-in into the motorcycle accessories business, against 05.05 clock, ca. 100 meters of the business removed set had two cars intentionally in fire. Of a car, the flames skipped then on a truck. All three vehicles, a Nissan, a Mercedes A class as well as an Iveco truck, burned out completely. The emerged property damage at the vehicles amounts to itself on ca. 50,000 Euro. The emerged damage in the business is estimated to be about 5,000 Euro.

The accused made a strongly inebriated impression in its arrest. For this reason a drawing of blood was arranged and carried out. In the course of the current day, the district attorney's office will place a proposal on warrant.

Yeah, okay, he's British and all, for sure he "made a strong inebriated impression"... what Brit doesn't? But to call him it? That's a bit harsh, even for a flame-throwing, car-flaming, drunken, daft Brit.

Little known fact: The Au's northern boundery is Rosenheimer Strasse, the eastern one is to the east of Orleansstrasse, almost at St.-Cajetan-Strasse.
Yeti
Boundery? So bounders are naturally drawn to the Au?

If the area has a caddery as well then the streets will be safe for neither man nor beast nor motorcycle.
sarabyrd
Nice catch, Yeti. I'll put on my glasses next time before posting.
EDIT: Matter of fact, the famous Stolz von der Au was quite a bounder and heartbreaker. I'm looking for a link but he's been quoted and paraphrased so often that it's hard to find the original.
This modern one by Biermösl Blosn is pretty good.

I saw them yesterday too. Under the railway bridge on that small road that goes up past the cemetery. Would have taken pics but didn't have my camera with me.

What better way to spend a beautiful, warm, sunny Mothers' Day/Whit Sunday than taking pictures of random violence?
Malcolm Spudbury
I walk past it almost every day, so I thought I might as well snap a picture when I had the camera with me.
