There is a few of us on TT who are planning a meet up for the 11th May over Stadtpark for picnics and ball games. A friend of mine has just suggested 'pot luck' picnic, where everyone brings something and we all share, I think thats a fab idea.

I'm hoping the weather will be good next weekend!!! So is anybody else interested?
Mapleleafdude
Family of 3 of 5 coming LOL. So just bring anything and see how everything works out? I love surprises biggrin.gif
Darjeeling
Another family of 3 is coming. What to bring? I also need directions to Stadtpark, never been there :-0
Shell Andrews
Bring anything you like-i'll prob take a big salad, some sandwiches and maybe a fruit salad. I'll also bring along some music, a football and of course my son. wink.gif, oh and maybe a few cheeky beers!!
Shell Andrews
Directions to Stadtpark from Blankeneese, I really havent a clue. Maybe I could meet you somewhere like Haubtbahnof and we could go along together? ... My sis in law will also be coming with her 2 kids, and I think a couple of friends of mine are going too...
marymanu
Do you need directions for the subway or by car? The Stadtpark is easily accessible by the U Bahn. Where are we planning on meeting? The Stadtpark is huge! My husband and I usually take the U3 to Borweg and it's a few minutes walk to the park (just head north on Borweg, which turns into Hindenburgstrasse and goes straight thru the park.)

From Blankenese you would take the S1 to Landungsbrueken and then the U3 (toward Barmek) to Borweg.

Anyone who knows the Stadtpark better than me willing to suggest a place we can all meet?
marymanu
I think I'll bring a big pasta salad and a dessert.
Shell Andrews
Stadtpark is so huge! Maybe we should all meet at Borgweg and go from there? If its a lovely sunny day (like im hoping) then it will be really busy and we will prob spend the afternoon searching for each other. Unless anyone else has a specific meeting place in mind?
Mapleleafdude
I'll get some KFC buckets just need a count.

We had a Canada Day meet in the Stadtpark a few years ago and it was very nice just pack picnic wise (blankets etc.).

I know my way around cause I used to jog a lot there and I would suggest the north end to the east of the main thru road (I would gladly arrive a little early and raise a flag smile.gif ).

Directions:U-Bahn Borgweg straight up north and towards the end on your right(will post sign if needed).

Stadtpark

I would gladly do a meet at S-Bahn Alte Wöhr and walk together into the park.
marymanu
I'm happy to meet wherever. Have we decided on a meeting time yet?

By the way, I know at least one family coming doesn't eat meat, so everything I am making will be vegetarian. Me, however - I am looking forward to some naughty KFC!
Shell Andrews
How about 1pm as a meeting time, I will be getting off the S1 at Alte Wohr so i'm happy to meet there for people arriving at that station and for other people arriving at other points at the park maybe Mapleleafdude can give a meeting point?

I have another family interested in coming too, so this a head count now

Laurel & Matt
Rose, Sequoia (4) and Maui (11 mths)
Me & Noah (2)
Cara, her husband and Ian (4)
Leyli and her 2 children
Mapleleafdude and family

I'm really looking forward to it, does anyone know the weather forecast for the weekend?
marymanu
Saturday is supposed to be 23 degrees and sunny! Woohoo!
Mapleleafdude
Meeting at Alte Wöhr is best and from there we can walk in together.

23 degrees! I second that woohoo :-)

If somebodys coming by car come early cause parking's gonna be sh...
marymanu
1 pm at Alte Wöhr it is.

Just to clarify - we're meeting on Sunday the 11th? All this time I had it written on my calendar as being on Saturday, so now I'm confused. Either day is fine, I just want to show up on the right one.
Mapleleafdude
I thought it was Sunday all the time.

Sunday might be easier to get through traffic for those of us from farther away.

Sunday at 1pm, S-Bahn "Alte Wöhr". Any objections?
Shell Andrews
thats fine by me 2... see you on sunday @ 1pm.
K Lietsche
biggrin.gif Hello everyone-
We will be there, Kara, Jan & Ian(3).
I'll bring, hm, something vernunftig and a dessert. A friend of mine from Scottland tried to come on the site and said she couldn't find it. I don't know why, I had no problem finding the forum. Looking foward to Sunday!

Darjeeling
Hi there!

ok, so this Sunday 1 pm @Alte Woehr. I'll bring some snacks, fruits and bottle of rose wine. Also a ball to play soccer. Who is in my team?

Very excited and c u on Sunday!

Marie-Anne
ok, so me and my husband might be showing up. He's in the mood for ribs unfortunatly after a BBQ we had last weekend, I'm guessing no one here has a nice portable grill I could convince them to bring?

We probably will show up either way...he might just need some more convincing.

Your ribs I assume?
marymanu
The nice weather has me fantasizing about Mojitos. Do you think they would be very hard to put together at the park? I've got lots of limes and rum, if anyone else coming wants to bring a cooler with clean ice, some fresh mint, ginger ale and/or natural sugar???
Mapleleafdude
I can bring a bag of ice for drinks and Ginger ale.
marymanu
Okay then I will get some sugar and mint. Anyone bringing disposable plastic cups?
Marie-Anne
just a quick update, unfortunatly one of our good friends is having a barbecue on Sunday. Since we rarely get to see him and his familiy, we feel more obligated to join his garden party. Apologies, I was really looking forward to your picnic...perhaps another time!

Hope you all have fun, and dont forget the sunscreen!
marymanu
A head count of numbers, so we can have an idea of how much to cook/buy for:

Laurel & Matt - 2
Rose, Sequoia and Maui - 3
Shell & Noah - 2
Kara, Jan and Ian - 3
Leyli and her 2 children - 3
Mapleleafdude and family - 3

Grand total: 16
Mapleleafdude
wow, more than I expected:-)

cool 1pm at S-Bahn "Alte Wöhr".
Darjeeling
Latest update: yes, we are coming.

I bring plastic cups+cutlery+some plates, salmon sandwiches, pickles, couscous, rose wine+drinks, some chips/crisps/popcorn (that's aparently what my kids love), some fruits. Oh yeah, and ball.

We don't have a coller, anyone brings cooler to put drinks in there? Shall I bring a blanket to sit or there are tables?
Darjeeling
Just realised that I don't have anybody's phone numbers! I'm sending PM to some of you, please text me your numbers back.
Mapleleafdude
bring blankets there are no chairs. I dont have a cooler but a bag of crushed ice so there should be enough ice to add to your drinks;-) I only have one of those shopping bag bags that are insulated hope it lasts a while.

Getting two buckets of KFC 1reg(legs) and 1 spiced(hot wings).
marymanu
@Darjeeling - Great, glad you are bringing disposable cutlery as we don't have any.

I am bringing a pesto pasta salad, corn bread and some assorted cookies, and the fixings to make mojitos (minus ice and ginger ale, which will be brought by Mapleleafdude.)

We had a wonderful time. Ian really noticed that everyone was speaking English. When it was time for his good night story he asked his papa, 'Kannst du mir eine geschichte vorlesen? Auf DEUTSCH!' laugh.gif At least he gets a bit of practice for Kansas.
marymanu

Hi there,
Hopefully, we can join you this time. Would that be Saturday 7th June or Sunday 8th? We could do the Sunday or either the follwing weekend.
marymanu
I can do either weekend. Will we meet again in the Stadtpark or another park? Planten un Blumen is also nice, and there is a big area for kids.
Mapleleafdude
were ready:-)
purple-hoggy
My family and I would love to come along this time. Either weekend is fine for us and as we are still new to Hamburg I have no idea where to go and won't make a suggestion with regard to location. I look forward to finding out when and where.
