Yay!! lets hope the weather is as nice as the last meet-up! maybe we should start talking about what to take food & drink wise. last time we had way too much food (which is never a bad thing), we should try making a different cocktail this time too. Any suggestions?
So lets start a count,
Shell (maybe Joe) & Noah
Laurel & Matt
Leyli & family
Mapleleafdude & family
KarenB & family
Purplehoggy & family
anyone ive missed so far?

Are you guys all set on Sunday? I was hoping maybe we could do Saturday the 14th.
Shell Andrews
May 30 2008, 5:11 pm
I can do either day so Saturday is fine with me too..

May 30 2008, 6:10 pm
Either is fine by me too.

Saturday is all good with us. Has a time been decided upon? Is it for lunch or dinner? Either way my vote is earlier rather than later so that I don't have to feed the kids before hand. Needing to do that kinda ruins the fun of a picnic for them.
Shell Andrews
May 30 2008, 10:12 pm
definately lunch, how about 1pm, does that suit everyone?

Jun 1 2008, 6:37 am
That's good for me. Are there spots in Planten und Blomen with enough room to chuck a frisbee or kick a ball around? My girl likes to do that.
Shell Andrews
Jun 1 2008, 5:01 pm
I'm not sure as I have only been there for a few times, but I hope so... anyone else know?

Jun 1 2008, 5:55 pm
There isn't that much "open" space I recall but near the ice rink/playground there is sort of field.
Shell Andrews
Jun 3 2008, 9:02 am
So would stadtpark be a better location based on the open-space, for the kids (and us of course) to have the space to play?
Karen B
Jun 3 2008, 3:22 pm
Stadtpark also has the paddling pool should the weather be as hot as it is now - definetly a plus for me.

Jun 3 2008, 6:59 pm
Hi guys!
I think it's enough space in Planten un Blohmen. I'm often in the part where Rollshuhbahn (rollerblading field), there is a lawn, playground and some sort of lake&channels.
See you all on 14th, wherever you deside!
Shell Andrews
Jun 3 2008, 7:27 pm
I was speaking to my sis in law today and she loves planten un blohmen and also thinks there is plenty of open space as well as many other perks, for example the fountain show at 2pm. So how about we do it this time at P&B and then rotate so next time we go back to Stadtpark. While the weather is like this wouldnt it be great to do a picnic every 3rd week or so, squeeze as many in while the summer lasts so im sure/hoping there will be plenty of oppurtunites to explore both parks.
Is that okay for everyone else?

The 14th at 1pm at P un B sounds great to me. I'm looking forward to birthday cake!
We should all probably decide what we are bringing - we had way too much food last time.

A first birthday sounds fun! My kids will love that. Perhaps we could all bring "party" food. I love kids party food. I will bring some honey joys and fairy bread if we go down that path. Mmmm yummy.
Shell Andrews
Jun 5 2008, 10:04 am
that does sound yummy, we will prob enjoy the party food more than the kids

I havent decided what food to bring yet, I was thinking of bringing something oriental or asian along the lines of spring rolls, saag aloo (which is basically spinach with potatoes and some spices) its yummy and Noah likes it too so its okay for the little ones..I might pay a visit to the British Shop in Eppendorf and get some mini sausages. I will get Noah to bake some mini cakes with me on Friday too so we will bring those.

Is Dammtor station a good place to meet for everyone? We could meet at the exit (P&B side) at 1pm?

So, 14th at 1pm sounds good for us.
Not sure what we will bring. I'm thinking fried rice with chicken? I can cook it in the morning, its quite good even when not hot.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all, and a birthday party sounds great

We just had one where I babysit for a 6 year old...boy was that hectic. 20 + kids...who hated the 10+ pizzas we ordered and didn't even touch much of the cakes lol. Was the most exausting 2 1/2 hours of my life I think.
See you all next week! (the hubby is coming too)

agreed, last time it was too much food, there wasn't enough sweet things though, except wonderful blueberry cake (thanks to Mrs Leitsche

KFC chicken also was a good idea.
i have no idea what to bring, it always depends on what's in the fridge

definetely bringing plastic cups and cutlery, bottle of white wine, some fruits, crisps/chips/nuts. don't mind if you give me some ideas.
also we should think abt intertainment a bit or shall i bring frisbee plates again

))
Mapleleafdude
Jun 7 2008, 7:12 pm
I'll bring a real Frisbee this time

but thanx for the plates anyway. Just cold food maybe?

Hi There.
I was thining about possibly coming along on Saturday with my family (16month old son and 9 year old daughter) as we just arrived in Hamburg 10 days ago and I thought this meet up would be great for the kids and adults alike, but I have also noticed that the weather forecast for Saturday is not at all good. The five day forecast is showing rain and 17 deg C. Would love to come along and meet a few people but I don't suppose anyone wants to get cold and wet. What would the plan be if the forecast stays bad?
Mapleleafdude
Jun 10 2008, 11:48 am
Would an Indoor playground be out of the question?
Marie-Anne

As long as adults can play as well
Mapleleafdude
Jun 10 2008, 6:40 pm
In front of the kids?!

Jun 10 2008, 6:47 pm
I guess the weather might not be on our side this time. indoor playground sounds ok to me, not as much fun as a picnic but we cant picnic in the rain.I would suggest having it at my house but I have a feeling there might be too many of us this time. which is great, I cant wait to meet everyone again and meet all the new faces too. whats sundays forecast like,is everyone free for sunday if sat is rainy? alternatively what inddor playground would you suggest?

Jun 10 2008, 9:29 pm
The only one I know is Rabatzz, kids love it. It's a bit pricey though, plus you have to order food in their restaurant. What abt Klick kids museum? I have never been there. Would that be a good place for meet up?
marymanu
Jun 11 2008, 6:38 am
We are not available on Sunday, and since we don't have any kids it doesn't really make sense for us to come to the playpark.
If the weather turns and you decide to go to the indoor playground I think we'll skip it this time around. Looking forward to the next picnic!

Is my estimate correct that were talking about 20+ people this time?

Hi Again,
The forecast for Sunday is exactly the same as for Saturday, I'm afraid :

(
We are pretty free both days. As far as head count, there would be 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 children. Open to any ideas about what to do, but as we've been here less than 2 weeks can't contribute much with suggestions. Sorry

here.Weather is looking better for Saturday. Chance of Shower only 32% and only 0.5l per sq meter.

We now have a surprise visitor from Australia coming Sat morn! If the weather is good, and hence we will still go to the park, we will probably still come, but otherwise we are out. I'm pretty sure our visitor won't want to hang out in an indoor playcentre for the arvo. So here's hoping for some decent weather.
