Hi Guys,
I had stayed in Munich for a couple of years two years ago!!!
Now after exactly two years of leaving, I received another job offer from Knorr Bremse as a permanent employee stationed @ Munich. Last time, I was on deputation from an Indian company, but this time it's permanent job in Munich.
1. I know about Munich and lived there for almost two years, but then I was single and loved the city... but now am married and have a kid... So, how is living like in Munich now?
2. I have a two year old son, how much would be average monthly expenditure of a family of two and half? I know it's very relative, but generally...
3. Does insurance cover vaccinations of kids?
4. I would like to enroll my kid for a play-school (preferably English speaking), how much would be expenses like? My wife is not working currently, so she can accompany kiddo to school.
5. What are the possibilities, my wife can get a job while staying on dependent visa? Will she be required to get a work-permit?
6. How is Knorr Bremse as a company?
7. Anything specific anybody would like to mention?
If you can help me decide, it would be great!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Help required from an Indian.
And there was I just about to offer some assistance. Oh well.
Some people really are pretty choosy about who they want assistance from. That girl last week who wanted Americans to lift a table and now this. Sheesh.

As you know if you are single then the streets of Munich are paved with untold willing virgins. However, now that you have married with a child you will find the place a dark and miserable little hellhole from which you spend every day plotting your escape.
Have a nice day.

I think the "help required from an Indian" simply means that he, the Poster is Indian and needs help..not that he will only accept help from Indians.

Not sure; it has been specified before that only Indians (or Americans or whatever) should help... so it's unclear.
Egal.. I'm sure he'd appreciate help from anyone if they can!

Let's face it though, Indians can be pretty helpful, and
Americans can be quite good at lifting tables, so I guess these requests are justified.
Now, I'm a little bored and annoyed today, and could do with an injection of humour back in my life...so, any English around to entertain me?

I simply fail to understand why people with
1) no sense of humor
2) no piece of information to offer
3) (probably) not even living in Munich presently
... analyse a honest post for unintended-double-meaning-non-existant subtexts ?
Is it really that hard to move onto the next post (maybe more worthy of your precious 0.02€) without making a moo point?

Kasey, a member since '06 and 2 posts to your credit. What have you contributed?
For my part in this sad and sordid tale...
1) Humo(u)r is in the eye of the beholder...or something.
2) I wanted to offer help but I'm not an Indian.
3) I live permanently in Munich. In fact, I get nose-bleeds if I travel outside the Frankfurter ring.
I'll take your "moo point" for what it is, a cow's opinion. All day long they chew the cud, all day long they lay, deep in the heart of Germany, in the merry month of May...cuz 'April' doesn't rhyme with 'Lay'.

Seems like this description fits
you as well as if not better than anybody else posting here. So why can
you not just move on without comment?
Anyway, now's probably as good a time as any to mention that most of the OP's queries can probably be answered without the help of an Indian or anyone else -- the search function will likely provide all the help the OP needs.

Er, you characterize yourself!
EDIT: I think camlough was right about the part too, but this seems more fun

Hi Guys,
An interesting discussion seems to have started once again, although quite unrelated to the questions asked :-)
Anyways, I agree that answers to most of the questions can be found by searching on this website.
In
I searched myself, and I could not find any info related to the company Knorr Bremse. It seems that it is an important decision by this person to move with family from India to Germany, with him
being the only earning member.
It would be great if any of you guys know anyone from Knorr Bremse, with whom this guy could talk with and know more about the work environment of the company.
I also feel that this guy actually meant that he is an indian guy and not that only indians can help. Had that been the case, he would have directly asked in some indian forum.
Thanks!

You'll probably pay about 500E per month to have your kid in a bi-lingual kindergarten.
... and I promised that I wouldn't help people any more. Ho hum.

Haha!!
As expected! Earth-rambling counter-attacks on the level of my contribution, my characterand what not and comforatbly steering away from the point of the post! Well done people, you prove it again!

and Keydeck -- I am flattered by your self-important "bull-%@&$!" to my "cow's opinion"
for my character evaluation by georgiagirl -- see Madam, with all due respect, your experience (the number of posts, and guessing thats the metric you use to gauge one's character, isnt it?) speaks volumes of yours ... would i be more wrong in calling you a Toytown Cheerleader?
Cookieman -- Is Munich now being called Duisberg ? I think not. So prime example of "not living in Munich"-kinds making a fore-stated moo point. In your face, Ol' Brother!
Affirms my insight though -- raingouf ,cat and yours truly were the most intelligent people to visit this thread so far..

moot point. But do carry on.

As for the bit about 'judging your character', it's not so much your character I'm judging by your lack of posts but rather your credibility. See also:
Forum member credibilityQUOTE
Forum member credibility is a measure of how much trust and weight can be given to chat forum posts made by any particular member of that forum. It generally works that the longer a person has been a member of the forum, and the more posts they have contributed, the greater their credibility.

I don't really understand what you mean, but I'm dying to see what the Toytown Cheerleader uniform looks like.

Lots of stuff for the kids and stay at home mum to do.

3. Does insurance cover vaccinations of kids?
Depends on the vaccination, but things like tetanus etc are usually covered

Depends on her qualifications of course, but as far as I know, everyone needs a work-permit

Kasey, again, if you had (actually) read the OP, you'd probably realise that except may be for point (1) there's no Munich specific info required in there. And the fact that I live in Duisburg 'now', doesnt imply that I dont know a thing about Munich.
And no one is out to get you! <character-evaluation> LOL!

6. How is Knorr Bremse as a company?
I didnt work there and dont know anyone that did, but I know webpages like
www.kununu.com. There employees (or former employees) give their opinion on their employer. Their comments are probably as valid as some random thoughts from any anonymous TT member. From what I read
here, Knorr Bremse have been going through some rough times. Mentioning of high fluctuation of employees, a lot of bad ratings compared to for example Robert Bosch AG... I wouldnt want to decide how valid this comments are - you have to make up your own mind.
