Hi all,
Any ideas where I can adopt a persian or ragdoll cat here in Hamburg Mitte?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I don't know if you can get a ragdoll here in Hamburg. I got a pair four years ago in Nurnberg. One of them has since died. He had a rare genetic defect. Genetic defects can be common in purebred cats. He seemed perfectly healthy until he died. His sister has always been a sickly cat, but so far she is still with us. So just I just wanted to advise you to really check up on any breeder you are considering getting a cat from. They can also be quite expensive.
But, having said that, I would not hesitate to get another Ragdoll. I have owned many cats over the years and the Ragdolls are the most lovely pets. They are so beautiful and gentle, and they really love being with you. All the good stuff you read about them is true!

Usually you have to find a breeder and apply for a kitten from an expected litter. Breeders usually want assurances that you won't declaw them or let them outside and they also usually insist on neutering or spaying. They stay with the mom until they are at least 12 weeks old.

Maybe you would be lucky and find someone looking for a new home for their Ragdoll. I wish you luck finding a Raggy.

Awww thats such a sweet and caring advice...Thank you so much, Figgy!

I am hoping to adopt a ragdoll, and I dont think that I would want to declaw any of my own cat happy.gif

I have a tabby cat, however, it is now in the care of my family back home and I now wish to adopt one right here in Germany smile.gif

Anyone giving up their ragdoll? wub.gif

This might get you started - it's shocking the amount of purebread cats which filter into the shelters and rescues.

None of these agencies take pet ownership lightly. I used the last one to adopt my furballs (sorry no clue how to insert a photo). They have, IMO, an intensive screening process for owners, much like the breeders and were quite fussy about my style of ownership. I went with the last one because should I need to go away on vacation they provide an agency approved cat sitter for a really reasonable fee. After the screening they gave me I felt that I could certainly trust anyone they have cat sitting. I've used this service, they picked them up and I was able to meet the woman and see how she interacted with them and was totally relaxed about the care of them while I was away. The cat sitter even called me TWICE while I was in California to tell me how they were doing!

Good luck finding what you're looking for!
