Quickest way to get new phone and DSL connection - Munich

Advice on getting set up and online in Munich
al_nax
Hello all,

I just moved into my apartment on ImplerStr. I need to get a Phone and DSL connection as soon as possible. I've been told that it takes at least two weeks to get any connection - but I need it today smile.gif So what can I do?

From the previous tenant in the apartment i see a T-mobile DSL Wireless router, phone, etc. Can I use this? What is the fastest way to get a connection?

Looking forward to hear from ya all..

It's worth a go trying out the equipment, but your best bet might be an internet cafe or a pub with a wifi connection.

& if you sign up today with m-net, it'll be over 2 months, not two weeks. Good luck with that.

It takes forever in this country to get these things set up. Your best bet to get it done quickly (relatively) is with t-com, they are, however, very expensive. It took 2 months for my Arcor to get done. 1.5 months for my T-Com to get connected.

You certainly won't get it "today" - 3-5 working days is the norm if you have the information required, know who to go to and if you are prepared to pay, but near in mind there is a holiday on Thursday which will extend things. If you are incapable of doing it yourself, seek professional help. If you need something quicker or want an interim solution consider a UMTS pay-as-you-go option. Vodafone charge €139 for the equipment and €4.95/day at the moment, no ties or additional costs. You could have this up an running within the hour, during normal working hours.

Do you happen to have the telephone number that was issued to the previous tenant? It helps if you give that to Telekom (if that's who you are applying with) because they can identify the line and switch it back on. I did that when I applied for my phone and had the connection within 36 hours.

Quick? Is there such a thing? Good luck.

Took me 3-4 hours to get a cable internet connection with cablesurf: Go to shop at Astallerstr., sign contract, have beer, go home.
Although my cable TV company happens to be KMS (Kabel & Medien Service) which I believe is the owner of cablesurf. Minimum contract period is 3 months; I got the first month for free due to a special deal.
