I saw some leaflets at last Friday's beer garden event, but forgot to take one home.

Can someone elaborate the details here please.

thanks

Roger Houghton has organised the Herzogstand walk for many years (25+)
It is a little early this year due to Easter being early. He always holds it on Ascension Day... his little pun.

I've been on it many times. It's a good walk, since it is one of the first mountains the views from the top are of the Alps on one side and the planes stretching to Munich in the distance on the other.
The food almost at the top is good and there is a cable car for the lazy ones.

Agree, Herzogstand then to Heimgarten across the ridge is a nice walk, even with children (or at least children who are familiar with the hills and know not to throw themselves off the ridge). The small hut on top of Heimgarten is a great place for a weissbier. A good gentle day tour, but don't take the cable car, you ruin the walk.

Was just on Herzogstand this past Sunday and I can recommend it. The views are really great of Karwendel and there are loads of cafes/restaurants by the lakes below. The food at the Herzogstandhutte is OK, and a round trip costs about 12€ with the cable car. There is still lots of snow up there though..

Rogers trip is a car sharing trip from Munich Giesing. They usually park at the top of the hill between Kochelsee and walchensee then walk up to the top with lunch on the way up/down. Many go to the Grey Bear for coffee and kuchen on the way back to munich. Some others will branch off and do the ridge walk.

Yeah, that flight path can be quite busy. But what you really need to watch out for are the low-flying Wolpertingers. ph34r.gif
