No telephone services to the Munich tax offices

I happened to have occasion to call these vultures and received a recorded message that direct dials to case workers are out of order due to a technical update through 1 May 2008. In urgent cases you can call 089-12520 and wait for the Servicezentrum.
No mention of the fax numbers are functioning or not, sorry.

WHAT?! Oh, for heaven's sake. First they arbitrarily change freelancer tax numbers with no sodding warning, and now this. Grrrr.

Wasn't just freelancer tax numbers that got changed, hubby's and mine both got changed as did our joint one. Don't know why they did it though.

Yeah, sure, but it is particularly unhelpful not to give any warning to people who use their tax numbers all the time. Apparently they're doing some major restructuring at the moment and it's causing all manner of delays and problems. Still going home before 4pm though, naturally.

nothing new. they only used to answer the phones between 08:04 and 08:12 anyway. the rest of the time they think up of elaborate schemes involving §13b and fucking freelancers in any available orifice.
