I don't know about Cologne but there is a dance school in Düsseldorf which runs all kinds of classes and workshops. Here is the link: http://www.tanzhaus-nrw.de/de/index.php

My daughter (14) goes to this one:

They do proper adults too, though: I'm due for a remedial blitz-course before the beginners' ball otherwise I shall be launching into cha-cha-cha when
the band strikes up a samba.

Hi all,
I am an Indian dance and music teacher. Also have done yoga, healing and meditation courses. Having 7 to 8 years experience of teaching different varieties of dances and Indian classical singing in schools at Dehradun, India.Last eight months I was teaching in England. Also sang and persorm dance for an upcoming album of a British music producer. Presently I am back in Hamburg and moving to Köln by the mid of june. I am planning to organise a dance and singing workshop. Having a place near Neu Markt. So please write me for which will be the best way to advertise. Or is anybody interested.

Hi all,
I moved to Cologne last April, and dancing is an absolute must for me! The place I try to go to regularly is Cologne Dance Centre: www.colognedancecenter.de. They also have a summerschedule with guest teachers.
It's a nice and well equipped school, with 3 studio's. You can pay per class, but also take a membership (Mitgliederkarte).

do any of you guys have language difficulties at these lessons?

I plan to possibly take some dancing lessons at some point and was just wondering if you need to have a good level of german to really get whats going on?

Hi there!
Just had a look at their website, seems like they recently changed it, so maybe it was offline or something.. Anyway, the address is on there, but is Venloer Straße 41.
If you go to their website and click on Stundenplan you will also find the timetable with all the classes. It's not the best website there is, but the basic info is all there :-)

In response to the language question; dancing is luckily a very international art. The people behing the infodesk speak english (at least the ones I met), and during class it usually goes in a mixture of german and english. You can also go up to the teacher at the beginning of class to let him or her know you're not native german, so they can take that into consideration.

Good luck, enjoy the dancing :-)
