This weekend coming is the 'Rhine in Flames' weekend. From what I've read it's - 'A series of mind-blowing
pyrotechnical spectacles,
Rhine in
Flames lights up the sky above picturesque towns and cities along the prettiest stretch of the mighty River Rhine'

. Seemingly you go to Rheinaue park, find a good spot then sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Anyway just wondered if anybody fancied going along, and making a day/night of it?? For more info you can go to
http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.htm?...;event_id=48472, or else just do a Google serach and you'll find plenty more info!

I have been couple of times in
Linz for that occasion, it is spectacular, but you really have to go early because it gets very crowded, but well worth it

Yes, you can but get there very very early...it gets very crowded!
Too bad I am not there next weekend ;-((
I'd like to join you this Saturday as well! It should be fun to see.
We'll need to sort out where/when to meet. I don't know any places at the Rheinaue park since I've not been over there before.
Any ideas of places to meet?
I'll also check if anyone else is around this weekend who may like to join us...

Was planning on a quiet weekend.. but oh well, I'm in
OK well looks like our fearless leader @ScottishBird is off-line for a bit so I guess we should just propose something and we could always change it later.
Since some people are coming over from Cologne and some from Bonn then how about we meet at the Hauptbahnhof, then we can take the tram to Rheinaue?
Let's say just inside the front doors of the Hauptbahnhof (in front of the information desk) at 4pm?
Sound OK or any better ideas?

Hi all - apologies for my lack of activity but I was waiting for a
German pal to get back to me with more info about tomorrow. Anyway seeing as 4pm seems to suit everyone I guess I'll just see you all tomorrow at the Hauptbahnhof!! Seeing as it'll be a long day maybe folk want to bring some 'supplies' (beer, food!) with them!! Englishmanincologne, cool if you could bring a rug as being a relative newcomer this is something I don't have!
Here's to a good day tomorrow!!

Rug is packed and also found some plastic cups left over from NYE...To bring some food and booze, is also a good idea SB ... will bring a corkscrew!
Any idea if there are places to eat drink there? I was planning on just buying beer/snacks there.
I presume there will be loads of food stalls etc there for all those people...

Aah you've got to get the priorities right, and you know us Scots when it comes to spending money!!!

Ski have no idea what facilities will be there but I am sure that there will be beer and food stalls! Good job E'man - sounds like you are well prepared!

SB, I must admit I have excelled even my own xpectations. Cheap german white plonk is cooling in the fridge as wee speak and on top of that I have found a 'cool bag' and one of those blocks of blueice thingys that will keep the wine and beer cold on a hot summers day (well for a few hours I guess)!
BBC weather forecast for tomorrow is 19C. Better bring some sunblock too...!

Great minds think a like E'man - my bottle of white is chilling in the fridge too!! As for the sun block - contrary to popular belief I am a Scot who can handle a few rays!!! Am popping home for a few days on Wed so need to get a bit of colour this weekend so I go home with a tan!!

Sunshine, cold plonk, good company - who could ask for more! Roll on tomorrow!
