Dwarf hamsters to give away - Munich

We've had a surprise
free_hat
Ok, so we just went to play with our (young) dwarf hamster, and lo and behold there were 7 babies in the house. Were thinking that she must have been pregnant when we got her (2 weeks ago).

So if anyone would like a free dwarf hamster (or 7), then answer this post. The mother is a very nice pet, she doesnt bite and loves people (photo attached).

They will be ok to leave the mother in around 10-14 days (8th May).

Thanks!

Apologies, put the wrong date in, they will not be ready for four weeks (late May)

Thanks!

Are these little critters nocturnal or would we (or our boys rather) get to see & play with them during the day too? Thanks!

Our cats would love to have some new friends to play with. I'm sure they won't mind waiting a few weeks. Let me know if and when I can pick them up.

unsure.gif "play" with them as in eat them or really play with them?

I've already got dibs on a couple of them for my little girl. wub.gif

If anyone needs a cage to go with their new hamster, I have one of those to give away. Also some extra food and bedding. And a word of advice, you are right to say they will be ready to give away by the time they are four weeks old, but if you leave them with the mother any longer than that she will not be happy, and the babies won't stay alive long if the mother is unhappy. Generally, they start eating solid food when their eyes open, and they can leave their mother anytime after that. I would aim to give them away when they are between three and four weeks old, and any that you still have after four weeks should probably be moved to a new cage. I'm not trying to sound like the baby hamster snob or anything, but I have an affinity for small furry animals and I would be sad if they died. So PM me of email me at Julia-Rocky@juno.com if you are interested in the cage.

You're going to send it all the way from Asia?

Hi! Yes they are nocturnal, but they generally get up and about when they hear stuff happening in the room. Ive had them all my childhood and they are great fun for kids! One of the things they love most is to be played with so thats why they are great as childhood pets.

If you want one or a couple then PM me, we have 7 just now but 3 have already got homes planned. smile.gif

I had several of these as a child and they make wonderful pets. I'd take one but I have two cats now who would undoubtedly have a little too much fun with it.

ahh, i gave 2 hamsters for my ex-boyfriend, and then he went to travel...when he came back, there were 10 babies more...hehe...3 of them died on the firts days, and the other 7+mom+dad died due to his fucking dog...
was so sad...
she droped the cage on the floor, then it was opened, and she could take all the 9 hamsters...but just for fun you know, she just killed them, didnt eat them
very tragic sad.gif

but they are lovely...i would like to have some, if i had time+place...
hehe

HI, thanks for your interest! Its looking like they have almost all gone though, id depends on how many we actually have when they come out of their house, which i think will be some time today because they are opening their eyes!

Ill let you know!

Hi Free Hat

This happened to us too many moons ago. To our surprise our new hamster had 13 babies! After she had eaten 3 -much to our dismay - we had great fun with the remaining 10. We improvised a huge play area for them on the dining room table with tunnels and see-saws mazes made out of cardboard tubes and card. We had at least as much fun as the hamsters. I dont know where we ate anymore but hopefully not from the dining room table!

enjoy!

Oh my gosh. How cute are they?! So when do you think we can pick them up??

Wow! They are amazing and so small. I hope you find homes for all of them.

I thought "the cat" might be interested!

Hi everyone,

It seems that after all the confusion of finding the babies homes we are left with one!

So does anybody want a free hamster?

Thanks!
free_hat
Hey everyone,

Having given all of them away (apart from one girl that we kept), we now have one more available to re-home! We kept one of the girls, but unfortunately she and the mother have started to fight a bit, so we need to split them. Shes a lovely hamster, I think she just wants her own space! which is fair enough.

So, anyone want a free young female dwarf hamster?

Thanks!
