Restaurants in Oberschleißheim - Munich

Recommendations and reviews
Scogs
Hi folks
we have friends coming over this weekend and they are staying in Oberschließheim, just down the road from us and we are going to take them out on Saturday night, and Sunday, Sunday night is sorted as we have time to go to Munich.
They are going out of their way to give us a tour of the aircraft Museum and possibly a free flight in a Zep (hopefully not a method of getting a stair way to heaven or being dazed and confused). Oberschließheim is not our normal stomping ground, any recommendations for nice restaurants, they like Asian and Italian so either will do
thanks

I've only eaten in Oberschleißheim once, and only actually found one restaurant. It's an Italian place and it was fine. There may be more hidden away somewhere else, but in the general vicinity of the S-Bahn station, that's all we could find.

There are loads of restuarants in Oberschleissheim. There is a Chinese Restuarant about the Hit Market (was there on Thursday - is OK but has the normal Chinese restuarant decorations). There is a Greek restuarant on the corner of B471 and, um, that road - the one between the castle and the Sbahn station and there are a couple of other restuarants on that street and around next to the castle. One is a pizza place - don't know the name but has good pizza.

There is no castle in Oberschleissheim, there is a palace though. Just a thought.
Schloss = palace

At most, you could have an old castle that has been converted over the centuries into a palace, then it would be a schloss. That is not the case here, however.

On the restaurants...I'll have to ask Petra, she used to live right next to the palace. I know there's a decent greek place right near there and of course the beer garden at the palace is quite nice for the coming season. I'll try again with the asian/Italian when I get back in a few hours.

'Zum Kurfürst' is really nice, tucked away from the main street close to the wall of the palace garden. Friendly folks and tasty food.

... it's not asian or italian though.

The indian restaurant next to the HL (or is it Rewe now?) is quite reasonable. The chinese one over the HIT is awful. The italian one in the main street opposite the italian bakery is nice. If you have kids, go to the Italian beergarden (yes, that's what it is) south of the Schloss, next to the football area. The Pizzas are good and there's a big Playground (don't go inside though).
The little Pub next to the Museum serves standard "smallish" dishes such as fried camenbert and salads, nothing special.
Good bavarian food: the Restaurant next to the Schloss. I personally would eat there, their Krautsalat is fantastic.

Noting much in Oberschleissheim that I am aware of but the next stop up at Unterschleissheim gives a bit more choice.

In the IAZ shopping center there is a good Greek restaurant. It is a few steps before the Mercure hotel. If they have a car then the Saaz Indian place just off of Alleestr. in Unterschleissheim is definitely above average.

In USH there are also loads of Italian places. One in particular, Caruso, just up from Tenglemann on Bezirkstr. does not look much from the outside but does excellent food. Can walk there easily from Lohhof S-Bahn if they dont have a car.

The one at Stutenanger? The whole surroundings are a serious turn-off, I don't know if we want to take visitors there ...

Just remebered that close the Air Museum there is a Greek place (Poseidon, Dacherstr. 1) and in the Schloss grounds is the Schlosswirt Oberschleissheim

We did go to the Poseidon but will not be returning unless the Biergarten is open, and then we will only drink beer. The goulash soup was fresh from a can, the omelette was of a rubbery texture as well as being overcooked and bland, the souzouki (pork kebab) was unseasoned, the souvlaki was dry.

Positive aspects: The service was attentive and quick, and the restaurant doggie-bagged our friends' leftovers (no, not their remains, just the part of dinner they couldn't finish).

Most surprising negative aspect: They don't take EC, only AmEx and MasterCard.
