A couple of friends have suggested that it would be fun to start up a
Stitch &
Bitch meet-up.
For those who don't know how to Stitch (the bitching comes naturally to most of us

) There will be two woman who are excellent at Needle Point, Knitting or Sewing and would be happy to teach those of us who don't.
Anyone interested?

I would LOVE to do this! I was actually just looking on the web yesterday for a local group in Hamburg. I have tried knitting and crocheting but would definitely need to re-learn them as for the past 5ish years I have only been cross-stitching, and I was never actually good at knitting or crocheting to begin with;)

I'd definitely be interested if it were on a weekend or in the evening!

I should have clarified that this would be a week day event. Probably mornings or early afternoons.

i'd be interested, but only if it was a monday or a tuesday, and I would have to bring my 2 year old son along, so I dont know how that would go, id give it a go though.

Bummer. Most days would be out for me then depending on the time I could probably only do Thursday afternoons or Friday mornings.

I am interested. Weekday mornings are best for me.
I've done this often before. Definitely not a good place for a 2-year-old, with all those needles. pins and scissors around.
Moms who came with kids usually didn't get a chance to do any stitching- too busy keeping the babies from getting bored.
I would be able to teach cross-stitch or knitting.

I was thinking the same thing (about the needles etc), im sure he would be very interested in what we were doing and wanting to give it a go himself. What a disaster that would be!! So I dont think I will be able to do it unfortunately, oh well..

I'll show up as long as nobody tells me how wrong I'm doing my cross stitching!
My 2cents: I wouldn't be inclined to attend if someone had their rug rats in tow.

I am too. I ended up finding a German knitting group that had a time which worked well for me but I would still be interested in being able to visit a group where I could get some cross-stitching done:)

Hi Ladies,
We can still get this going if everyone can agree on a day and time.
Would Thursday mid-morning suit everyone?
Who is still interested?

I can do Thursday. Do you mean tomorrow or next Thursday?

Tomorrow is too soon as I we don't have a location or know who and how many are interested yet. Could aim for next week.

I think I could manage Thursday mornings, should not be too hard to coordinate that with my boss.
I have the eerie feeling I might be the only one of my age there though, so I might try to drag my sole friend in this blasted city

see? I already have the bitching down...now for the knitting...
I'll just bring my extremely basic cross-stitch thingy with me, I started it months ago...but rarely get to work on the thing.

What's your age group Anne-Marie? There is varied ages who are interested so you probably won't be either the youngest or oldest.

Thursday morning works fine for me- as long as it is after 9:45. It's great that it sounds like this will work out:) The best area for me is Winterhude/ Eppendorf/Eimsbüttel.

well, I'm in the 20s "age group", but it actually really does not bother me much. I'll talk to my friend, but she has a wedding coming up so she might be too busy.
I don't mind traveling to the meeting, but I will probably have to get to work in the afternoon, so it can't be too far. I live in Osdorf (close to Altona). The u-bahn can take me practically anywhere.
As for location, maybe we could try some sort of cafe? One where they don't mind people crash in for readings or other activities?

Hello stitchers,
I just wanted to say that I would be willing to host the first Stitch and Bitch at my house. However, I live in Blankenese which may be a little far for some of you to travel. You can get to my place by S1 then a bus and about a 5 minute walk.

Blankenese would be perfect for me.

A cafe in Altona would be more in "the middle" for me so to speak. I wouldn't mind going to Blankenese as a one time thing and I think it is really nice of you to offer your home Figgy, but I would prefer something a bit more central for future meet ups if it is possible. I'm also willing to do a little research and search for some cafe's if that would help.

Altona is not too far, I could definately make it there no problem. I don't know the area well enough to suggest a place though, sorry.
