Is there going to be one tomorrow?
I moved to the area last week and would love to meet up with some people and make some new friends!!

I was actually talking about this with two of the the other regulars of the Toytown dinner meetups in Nuremberg (MaxAxeMurderer (who really
isn't a murdered) and Ex-Seattleite (who really
did live in Seattle)) today… and the consensus was that we
SHOULD in fact have an AIEO tomorrow night.
We used to have both AIEO and Curry Nights by default every week, but then this whole Summer time thing started and nearly everyone has been out of town celebrating holidays (at least at some point over the past few months), so we haven't been meeting as regularly.
We're not sure where, exactly, to dine tomorrow evening, yet. To suggest something, perhaps we can go to Cubano or eat at one of the beer gardens (perhaps near the castle). Any other ideas?
Regardless, we'll probably meet somewhere in town @ 7:30pm. Everyone should check this thread again soon to find out exactly where, once there's a consensus.

I just sent you a PM, but I guess this is better.
Cubano looks good but I'll keep an eye out for the final decision.

My vote this week goes to the Hexenhäusle - the restaurant right behind the castle at the Vestnertor. It's got the coziest beergarden and just overall great atmosphere. Their vegetarian options are limited but yummy.
Here's their website. Let the pics convince you ...

Hexenhäusle... been there many times for beer. I can't eat their food though. I might join for a beer or two or ten. It's just down the street from the office, so I would drop by from there.

Aug 6 2008, 2:17 pm
Should we meet @ Cubano, eat, and then move the party to Hexenhäusle?
MadAxeMurderer
Aug 6 2008, 2:56 pm
Where or what is cubanos? I'm probably not free until about 21:00 tonight. Like Mudgum, caould not eat at Hexenhäusle. but deifnetly handle alcohol.
I do alcohol. Me

Since this week is more spur of the moment... in case you need to reach me to find out where we're at (and when), my German handy # is: +49 176 87183615
So I would say we're meeting up at Cubano first and then heading over to the beer garden after we eat.

Aug 6 2008, 3:15 pm
Okay, so let's just do Hexenhäusle at 7:30 PM for dinner.
Folks who can't do Hexenhäusle food BUT drinks will join us later.
Maurik, looking forward to seeing a new face in the group!
See you guys in about three hours then.
Prost

Here's the Google map of each place:
Let's meet up @ 7:30pm (which is pretty much our usual time) at Hexenhäusle and eat & drink there.
(I'm including Cubano above for just for reference, as we'll meet there one some future date.)
Ex-Seattleite
Aug 6 2008, 3:45 pm
Okay, Hexenhäusle at 7:30 PM it is.
If this is your first time, how will you recognize us?
Tell you what, just look for a bright pink hat in the middle of our table.
garrett
Aug 6 2008, 3:50 pm
Also, for newcomers: I'm wearing a green striped shirt (and probably will be tonight too, unless I totally spill something on it and need to change) and have a bit of scruffy stubble on my face.
I think Ex-Seattleite's pink hat is a bit more obvious, if she remembers to bring it and if we're not too embarrassed to have it on the table.
Maurik
Aug 6 2008, 4:37 pm
Hahah ok I'll look for the pink hat! See you at Hexenhausle.
I'm wearing pretty plain blend in clothes, but I'm very tall so I'll be easy to spot if there's a crowd.

First off: Sorry for the rather late posting for this week's adventure.
This week's location will be Indochine (
web site). It's near Cinecitta, O'Sheas, and the river.
Gewerbemuseumsplatz 3
90403 Nürnberg, Germany
(
View it on Google Maps — note: it's in the building actually slightly left of that placemarker)
After we have some fine "Asian Fusion" food, we're planning on heading across the walking path to O'Sheas.
See you all there this Wednesday @ 7:30pm!
By-the-way: If I remember correctly, Indochine has happy hour until 8, so show up on time (or slightly early)!

Thanks for posting it, Garrett!!
I'll be there.
And thanks about the Happy Hour reminder!
Wouldn't want to miss it.

I am in the picture at the top of the page. Also, Maurik and I will probably be geeking out on the free wifi.
I can also post tomorrow about what I will be wearing then, if that would help too.

We'll try to score a table outside if it is nice. Also, the place is not that big and we are probably the only English-speaking folks there.
You shouldn't have a problem finding us right away.

I#m new to this site. And Adventures in eating out sounds really great. So I will try to meet you tomorrow (if you accept non-native speaking people). I have a flight in the night to Croatia so I might just stay for a beer.

Postponed this week, as it the Wednesday clashes with a birthday party that the regulars will be attending (hopefully).
We'll have one next week though!

Next week all you can eat sushi at Sushido? 8.80€ ... but we'd have to see if their stuff is soy free right?

Aug 26 2008, 12:17 pm
Maurik: It's undoubtedly not, but they can most likely make something special.

sweet =) should see if they have a website or something so we can see if they still have that 8,80 euro offer on.

This upcoming Wednesday we'll be meeting at Mongo-BBQ here in Nürnberg. We've been there as a group once before (in April), but certain people want buffet sushi this week—and after discovering that Sushido's buffet is only until 7:30—it has been decided that we're going to go to Mongo instead.
Mongo-BBQ
Josephsplatz 10

(

A quick note: Even though it has "BBQ" in the name, there are vegetarian options. (It's not barbequeue as traditionally thought of.)
Also, Google has enabled a new feature on Google docs; a new feature to let anyone edit spreadsheets… so I turned it on. Now anyone should be able to edit the AIEO Nuremberg restaurant list document, even if I haven't added your email to the edit list.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pZF...0ugAA&hl=enPost in this thread if you're interested in attending. See you @ Mongo-BBQ!

It's nearly time again for the weekend adventure! Yeah, this week, I'm going to be ultra-daring in suggesting that we eat at the place shown here:
http://www.restaurant-mimi.de/ ("Restaurant Mimi: Sushi-Thai-China-Vietnam")
At least a few people have been clamoring for this place, as it's all-you-can-eat sushi. Yum yum.
Restaurant Mimi
Fürther Str. 12, 90429 Nürnberg

see it on Google Maps)
We will see YOU and your friends (optional) there at 7:30pm on Wednesday night!

NOT ONLY is it all-you-can-eat Sushi BUT all-you-can-eat dinner buffet including Sushi - for only 7.90 EUR.
A perfect restaurant for the Asian food lover on a budget.
And the food is definitely yummy and the sushi fresh.
Looking forward to tomorrow night!

I know of a few people who are out of town (Summer holidays), but as for everyone else:
How can you resist an all-you-can-eat buffet with all-you-can-eat-sushi as part of the buffet?
It'll be fun (and tasty). Show up!

Sep 10 2008, 2:48 pm
I had a light lunch to prepare myself for this event by the way...

Yeah, I considered going to the Indian buffet, but opted for a salad instead, in preparation of tonight's event. Yum yum.

Yes indeed, I'm going to the Casamatten at 16:00 with my colleagues, followed by beer. If Garret posts here in time, I might drag myself onwards afterwards.
Good to hear you're back Tyfani.

Sep 16 2008, 1:50 pm
Hey Tyfani! Welcome back!
We're going to meet at Osteria and split huge pizzas. Osteria has HUGE pizzas... two people can split one and be stuffed. By HUGE I mean GINORMOUS. Like, so large they can't fit it on a giant plate. (They have pasta and salads too.)
Osteria

Since Osteria is usually really busy in the evenings, people should post if they're coming. We'll try to get a table large enough for everyone (and possibly larger), of course.

How was the sushi? If it's good and cheap like you say, that sounds like a great deal... been out of town for a while but looking to get back in the swing of things.

I wouldn't know how the sushi was, as I had to get noodles + (a small amount of unspecified) veggies, but I think Maurik & Ex-Seattleite seemed to enjoy it.

Ehren - The sushi at Mimi's was freshly prepared right in front of us. You can only choose from maybe five different kinds, but they are really good. And the rest of the buffet was quite yummy as well. You two should definitely check it out next time you're up here.
Tif - I'm so happy you are back in town. You've left me alone with the boys for too long. Really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and hearing all about Italy.
MadAxe - I'm ready for a big hug
Bring on the big pizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzas!!!

awww sorry I left you so long with the mean boys. I'll be back tomorrow though and all will be better.

I must say I find it funny that you've decided to go to the restaurant that is like a block from my apartment building.

It's much better than the Osteria on Pirckheimer though. More room, better music, and nicer staff. The pizza is the same just atmosphere at the one we are scheduled to go to is much better. yay!
Okay I'm rather excited to see people. I've been stuck in a foreign country with no friends for two months too long. It's nice to be back in the foreign country I can call my home with friends.

(wow I got an error message saying I posted too many emoticons than allowed. I'm not sure how to take that)
