Calling all Adventurers! The theme of this week's quest is
"bridging the past and the future". (What on Earth does that mean?
Read on!)
This week's restaurant of choice is quite esoteric and could be dangerous (as it's new to all of us, so it's unexplored territory). One of our most cherished operatives in the field was tipped off about its presence early this week (basically, Monday morning) when a flyer was quietly slipped onto her detective's desk... by
a shady anonymous tipster.

[Now, onward, as we explore the Internet's jungles of mystery... ]O-sha is shrouded in secrecy, but your operatives in the field have already discovered many things about this restaurant. Let's examine the evidence collected so far:
Clue #1) The main page is
http://o-sha.de/ — and there's not much there. Using my secret German decoder ring (Google Translate), I have recently uncovered that the white text on page seems to mean to "Here is your newly created Internet presence."
Clue #2) Going back to our own trusty trailblazer (a search engine), we have uncovered yet another mystery. It seems that the public site linked above is just the locked front door to this secretive society. There's another entrance. Let's take it.
http://www.spookie-bernd.de/osha.php Yes, it's quite "spookie", so watch out... Where does it lead us? Wow! This page looks much more complete! — or is it?
Using my expert skills, I have uncovered that the foreign language you're now reading on this new site is also not English... and this time
it's not even German! What is it? Well, the answer, my dear readers, is that it is Latin. Now, as I am a designer, I have much familiarity with this special text and can tell you exactly what this Latin means.
Yes, seriously. This is a very well known body of work that is world-renowned for its utility. To roughly translate its meaning in one fun run-on, I would quickly tell you that it means, "This is not finished, but the poor monkeys locked in the mines pushing pixels for peanuts have not (yet) received the final copy (text) from their cruel overlords and, therefore, slammed some Latin in the layout to 'greek' out the visual look to an approximation." (Those in the know call it "
Lipsum", which is a portmanteau of "
Lorem Ipsum".)
So, there's even more supporting evidence that this place is new... (or is, at least, getting a new website). Still, we'd like to believe it is new, so we're going to believe it is (at least until proven otherwise).
Now, what is all this malarkey about "bridging the past and future"? As I have already established that this place is new, and we're talking about going there in the (near) future
(Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 7pm), grounds have been established about this being new and future-thinking.
"So what's this about the past?" you say. I hear ya. Many of us have and sometimes still (and some even intend to too) attend the wonderful
Curry nights on Thursday. There has been much talk over the length of many moons about trying Thai, but CoT (for reasons unknown) has been traditionally tied to Indian curry only. Well, we're adventurous, and we're going to sample the
forbidden curry of Thailand this Wednesday. Along for the ride, a fellow curry maniac (
Antone_Capone) will make his guest appearance before he ventures into uncharted waters (the sprawling rivers and canals of Amsterdam). In a few simple choice words, we're basically having a curry of a different sort with our good friend before he ventures off into the sunset.
Now, here's what you need to do to make this night a success! Post early (and post often?) about attending! If you can't attend, but are interested, let us know (because we like you). More importantly, if you can attend, that's for you to know and us to find out. Post here that you are interested in attending and promise show up. We're counting on you! Adventures in Eating Out is people! Um... yeah... people...
people eating out and having a great time, that is.
Have I forgotten anything? I hope not. (I hate it when that happens.) If you have a question, just post it here in this "thread" (what you're reading now.. there's even a button below you can click to add a reply) or send me a "PM" (private/personal message) through the site.
