Installing a Speedport W701V DSL modem/router

Hi, I recieved my long awaited speedport from T Home on Sat 19th April. Yippee I thought, I can now contact my family and friends. I opened the parcel, then disaster, all the flam*** instructions on connection and set up are in German. Speaking only enough to order EIN Gross Beir und ein Giros bitter, I am stuck. I have a Aspire 5710 laptop, the splitter, dunno why I got one of those as my telephone connection box has 3 ports for 3 telephones if I so wish and a Speedport W701V with absolutely no idea of what goes where and how to get online. Apparently I've got a password etc but no idea where to find it in the letter. Why is there no multi lingual instructions with this set up? In the UK, we put instructions in a variety of languages in anything remotely technical. I've tried looking for an English translation on the net at work, in my break I might add, but had no luck. Just found this forum and hoping someone can help me and point this rather confused, mature blonde in the right direction.

There is no English literature for these devices as they are designed for, built for and will only work in Germany. The instructions are very pictorial, at least as far as cabling is concerned, but you may need help to navigate the setup to complete the installation, and you will need your ISP details (sent with your T-Online welcome package) to log onto the internet. I recall some pretty detailed information being entered before in this forum, but that would need a little searching to find. Do NOT be tempted to install software from a CD - it's not necessary.

Telekom supply all their user guides in German but for all other nationalities they put pictures and numbers in there too!

Thank you for the replies. I cannot find any pictoral guide or I would have been able to follow them. That's how I set up and put together my old PC. I'm really up the proverbial creek then. Best get in touch with T Home and tell them to take it away and refund my money as their system is not only unusable asnd unoperable by me but I can't even get past taking it out the box

They are very unlikely to take it back. You got what you ordered. It sounds like you need professional help - they do offer an installation service. The short installation is very pictorial, and there are even simpler pictures (page 15 and 16) of the detailed guide

Oh look...From Page 30 it has numbers and pictures...

If only they put the installation guide in the box the router comes in!

I have same issue with Speedport W502V. I wanted to locate the English language so I could send it to the Sorenson Communications. We have heck lot of problems setting the router to work with the videophone. Ah, crap...
