Anyone one up for a bit of Salsa? If so, join us at the
Schrannenhalle on 26th April for the monthly Salsafest. It's good fun - there is a lesson first for ca one hour, then a live band playing Latino music. All levels welcome! Entrance is free up until 10.00p.m.

I suggest meeting up for cocktails beforehand (as of
19.00) in the
Buena Vista bar ...might help you lose your inhibitions and it's only a stone's throw away from our destination!
Whoever is interested, please add your name to the list so I can reserve a table as it gets mega busy on the weekends!

The Salsa course didn't work out - at least it doesn't look very interesting. So
Buena Vista would be fine - can't promise as early as 7 p.m., though. Where are all the Salseros and Salseras on Toytown?

ER, it's a monthly event at the
Schrannenhalle (last Saturday of every month) so plenty of other opportunities to go along

I'd like to come. Perhaps I can find a dancing partner in Munich to continue class? In any case: Yay, good idea! :-)

Yep, from some point not having a dancing partner really get into way of learning salsa. That's why belly dancing and flamenco are so popular

At least among females:)

Yes, exactly! Looks like there are not enough guys who want to dance! Good for me! :-)

Well, the beginner's Salsa course I did at the Body Factory you didn't need a partner to join in...we just swapped partners during the lesson. However, I find you just "click" better with some men than others so once I got to know who I could dance well with, we then went dancing ourselves to practice our moves. Unfortunately the guy I danced with continued lessons and I didn't so we kind of drifted apart. I have just started another Salsa/Reggaeton class in work but it is freestyle so no need for partners. We have it easier than the men because a good male dancer can lead you, whereas an inexperienced male dancer can't really dance impressively with a woman.
So Ms Domi Nika (cool name) and Mr Solaar - should I count you both in for cocktails too?

I have friends visiting, so it's up to them really. Will do my best to convince them, though:)

I will reserve a table at
Buena Vista under the name "
Toytown" at
19.00 so for those who won't recognise us just ask the staff. If you can't make cocktails and just want to join for dancing, PM me for my mobile number. It get's very busy there (we will not have a table reservation) & hot (so don't wear too much!).

Thanks for having me. :-)
It was a bit too crowded on the dancefloor but the teacher did a good introduction given that she did it all in less than an hour. Finally, if I stepped on any of you guys while dancing, please accept my apologies.
It was fun.

Was just in the
Schrannenhalle at lunch time and checked the programme...thought they were missing the Salsafest out in May due to the Eurovision party on 24th but it seems they have brought it forward to
Sat. 17th May. I personally can't make it then..probably lots of other people away for the Whitsun holidays too. However, once the June Programme is available I'll post again and hopefully we can get another crowd together...was a great night last time!

hmm I am new to Munich and I went to the Salsa Party on my own last Sunday - liked the location but I do not know more than the basic salsa moves - and I think I have forgotten those by now. So I am trying to find a way to get back into the groove - are there more absolute beginners like me here?

I was sitting there by myself drinking a beer and I had to decline like 7 offers to dance because everybody on the dancefloor looked like pretty much a pro to me and I did not want to embarras myself completely

Check out this thread about
Salsa beginner's courses. Plenty of opportunities in Munich to learn Salsa.
Can't make the Salsafest on 28th...have updated the title of the thread though incase others want to go along.

Rule Numero 1 for salsa. no cocktails before dancing! Otherwise you can't spin

Enjoy the evening. I will be in Zurich and will have to (very unfortunately) miss out.

If Shrannenhalle gets too crowded, try out the Buena Salsa festival near Rosenheimerplatz: it's quite an event as well and still possible to breathe inside. Normally with shows, etc.

dude, ilees - since nothing "productive" seems to happen on the other Salsa thread - are you going to this on Saturday? at least I would not be the only newbie then? might consider coming along if somebody else goes as well
