I am offering up my apartment as a place for people to work during the day of

Wed 23rd of April 2008

Homepage: http://jellyberlin.pbwiki.com/

The concept is a Jelly. aka a co-working event. For those work at home, freelancers, techno-nomads, students or anyone else who can work anywhere and doesn't have a real office, but would like some people to bounce ideas off of and have a more social work day.

This is not strictly an English Speaking event. I am a native English speaker, but have functional German.

Where?

My apartment in Berlin Mitte

Almstadstraße 22
10119 Berlin-Mitte

When?

Wed 23rd of April 2008, 11:00-18:00

Why?

because I am really tired of working alone in the dark rainy days and only having co-workers after 17:00

Killer idea. I'd been trying to get some co-working spaces started in Berlin for a while, but it's a lot like herding cats. If I wasn't in the states to launch my site, I'd definitely stop by. Plan one again and I'm there.

Hey Robin, i'll try and sign up for Wednesday. I do need somewhere to plug in my laptop as the battery only lasts for 2 hours. Is this possible?
rslomkow
Jamesm, should not be a problem. I live in Neubau. I have 4 free outlets in the office (from power strip), 4 at one end of the couch (3 from power strip), 1 at the other, and 2 in dining nook. I have a 3 way splitter in my travel bag that could be put in one location if there is high demand. I think each of those areas is on a 16Amp circuit so there should be enough power even it it shares with the lights.

If you have a power strip (make sure to mark it as yours!) you might want to bring that, as I don't know how much contention there will be for outlets wink.gif

Wish I could come... Looking forward to the next one.

Yeah I can't make todays one either but would be interested in the next one with my fat old laptop...

OK last time it worked OK (though only 3 people showed up, but they were 3 great people. I blame the first Sunny day after too much rain.).

Robin, I'd love to come around - unfortunately, I "don't have permission" to comment on the PBWiki, although I'm (now) a registered user, logged in and have cookies enabled (at least in IE). If it's ok, I'll just announce my visit here and bump the topic to the top again. Thanks for the hospitality, seems a great way for new inspiration to meet some other people and work in a different location. - Jonas

Thanks for the confirmation!

I will add you to the informal list I am keeping in my head. I will also investigate what it takes to make the pbwiki world editable. I actually don't think it is a great place for a list, either it requires security or it gets too much spam. Maybe I should use mixxt or something else for that purpose.
