THE AMERICAN ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT IN HISTORIC PERSPECTIVE
Lecture/discussion with Prof. Thomas M. Maher, PhD
Environmental awareness in the U.S. already began in the late 1800s with a 2nd flowering in the 1960s and 1970s. During the Reagan administration environmentalism suffered a conservative backlash whereas recent U.S. opinion polls show that there is a rising concern about environmental issues such as Global Warming. In addition, environmental justice has become a new movement in the 21st century.
Currently Prof. Maher is a Fulbright scholar at Universität Regensburg
