Claiming unemployment benefit while seeking work

Advice for someone thinking of moving to Germany

Hi...I left Germany for work almost a year ago and am now keen to return. Can you move to Germany without a job? Can you claim any unemployment while searching for a job? It would be easier to physically be in Germany for interviews etc...any ideas? Thanks!

but you've been here before haven't you ?? you should know this

What timezoner meant to say was that you can't claim unemployment benefit unless you've worked here a certain length of time, but given the relatively low cost of living you may be able to afford to live here for a while without working. He then intended to wish you luck.

if you been working abroad within the EU then you will have to apply for the benifits wherever you live now BEFORE you return to germany, even if you are not eligable for benifits in that country, fill in the claim and ask them to carry it over to germany, then you might be able to get it here, depending on your previous history
