We've decided to postpone the cinema outing as it clashes with the World Language Party which also takes place at the Sony Center that Saturday night.I, for one, am still interested in seeing the film so if anyone wants to joint please get in touch.

Curious,
Did anyone go see the movie? My German friends hated it, my wife and I liked it--interesting.

I saw it with a couple of Germans myself, one of whom really disliked it (had seen a better documentary) and another -- Charlotte -- who may pipe up with her own comments. I really enjoyed it myself. Very "American" style and that may have been what frustrated the Germans.

Good Morning,
Yeah, there's quite a debate going on about the movie. It seems the rub comes from the depiction of von Richthofen. The group I went with (all Germans) really liked it.
It's interesting what you wrote about "American," style. I didn't see that. I would call that "Flyboys," which I hated--wooden characters spewing out contrite dialogue. This I thought was better, with a lot more depth, and at least decent acting.
I think a lot of the debate comes down to what German think about the own past and the movie just stimulated discussion on the subject--not a bad thing.
