Hi all, I'm looking for romantic restuarants in and around Frankfurt/Darmstadt. Can anyone help???

Thanks

Hi @geoff

Well, the view from the restaurant at the top of the Main Tower takes some beating . . . not sure if you'd call it romantic per se - but pretty impressive IYKWIM all the same wink.gif

Find out when sunset's going to be, and book for 30 mins before that . . .

In FFM there's a great little Italian restaurant that has a Truffel menu. Heading down the Zeil, take a left at the McDonalds just before Konstablerwache. Its the first Italian restaurant on the right...sorry, I can't remember the name...but its brilliant! smile.gif

Holbeins is definitely good. A bit pricey but sophisticated...nice location for a stroll along the river afterwards.

Aquapazza if you really like good fish. The neighborhood's not that romantic though.

King Kamehameha...the restaurant downtown across from the Alte Oper (Not the dance club Kamehameha)

Slightly less pricey is the Opern Cafe. Still good food and nice view of the Opera House. You can stroll down the Fressgass afterwards and find places to have drinks.

I'd say Holbeins is the best in terms of no-miss romantic.

Holbein's is nice and I'm not going to argue about the food. But romantic? I guess it depends on you and on the context. For me, the atmosphere is a little too stiff and formal, the staff a little too fussy, and, if you get the wrong table, you have absolutely no expectation of privacy. But then again, to repeat myself, it depends on you and on the context: it wouldn't spring to my mind for a first date, but could work as a treat/refresher in a more established relationship. And it does have some pretty big-hitting cheerleaders in its corner (see above) (if I can be allowed to completely mangle my metaphors - it's still only Monday morning after all).

My absolute favourite (which I'm a bit reluctant in sharing ph34r.gif ) is the Rosengärtchen it's small and romantic and the service is impeccable.

edit: just looked at their website in imo the photos on there don't actually do it justice.
