Making contacts and meeting new people in Bonn

Hey good people

I'm Icelander moving into Bonn in coming weeks from Hong Kong

I would like very much to keep myself busy for the first weeks
coming from a busy place like HK, I'm bit worried that Bonn could be bit to relaxed for me,hehe

so anyone with good recommendation for good things to do or just want to grab a drink
please give me a shout,

Well, you are right, Bonn is a bit "relaxed" compared to Hong Kong!! But Cologne is a bit more lively and very nice (and close to Bonn!) so you should join one of our meet ups! We meet up regularly for some drinks or movies, etc!

I'm from near Düsseldorf, but lived at Bonn for 7 years. If you want, we can go for a photo walk through Bonn, Cologne or Düsseldorf and do some sightseeing, too.

I arrived in Bonn just over 2 weeks ago. As I don't speak much German I'm finding it hard to meet people. So if any of you guys are meeting up for a drink I'd luv to join you!

hey there, id love to meet up but i can't do Sunday afternoon as i'm meeting work colleagues at Duesseldorf airport, doh!

i could meet anytime on Saturday though. Failing that I can do the weekend after, anytime!

Anytime Sat or Sun would be good for me as I have no plans for next weekend! As for a place to meet I can ask my work colleagues for some suggestions tomorrow?!

Right got the names of a few places which are meant to be nice - Café-Bistro-Pendel, Vivatsgasse 2a (City Passage), the Brauhaus Bönnsch, Sterntorbrücke 4 and the Sudhaus, Friedensplatz 10. I have been past the Sudhaus and it has a large seating area outside, which might be good if it's a nice day. I think the Brauhaus Bönnsch has a few seats outside, not sure about Cafe Pendel. But you might want to have a look at them on the net and see what you think!

Cool, i can do Saturday, i just got here yesterday so when i get chance later today il have a look at the suggested places, but i totally don't mind, just name a place and il be there!

I live in the outskirts of Cologne so when i get chance i also need to work out how to get to Bonn centre from mine, i'm assuming it's quite simple. i'll make it my task for the day!!

Ok I'll make an exceutive decision so how about we meet on Saturday 4pm, at the Sudhaus, as it's right in the square (Friedensplatz 10) and should be easy enough for everyone to find?! We can always try out the other bars later once we've all met!

Sam, welcome to you to! There are plenty of trains that travel from Cologne HBf to Bonn HBf, and they only take around 20-30 mins. If you want I can come meet you at the station if you're unsure where to go?! If so just let me know what time train you're getting!

Other than that I look forward to meeting everyone on Sat!

hi guys, i'm not going to be able to make it i'm afraid. just i've managed to get tickets for a show on Sat night in Cologne and i need to meet people in Cologne at about 4.30. Real Shame!
