Is such a thing possible? A group of people living in this tiny bavarian hamlet (however close to Munich it might be!), all english speakers and readers, a common taste in the written word, getting together to do what book clubs do best...raise a glass or two!

I am only arriving in Ismaning in June, but would be real keen to do a book club. I think the league of accidental hausfrauen (who are already meeting) also discuss books. Plan to hook up with them too. Don't know if you have found any others yet though?

The Hausfrauen haven't discussed many books while I've been there, but the Munich Book Club does. Some people go to both though. Ismaning is on the Sbahn or even just a bike ride away from the center of town and we'd be happy to have you come down in - we haven't had a suggestion yet of where to meet for the May 27th meeting discussing Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint.

I would think you'd get enough interest in Ismaning. It'd be a nice way to liven the place up a bit. There are quite a few English speaking families in the area. Have a look on the locations map to see some of the people listed for Ismaning, although there are quite a few people not listed.

The Munich Book Club hasn't had a suggestion yet of where to meet for the June 24th meeting discussing Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint.

Actually, I really like the idea of a book club. It's just that realistically, I don't have much time to help with it. I'll be lucky to find time to read a book, but I really think you'd find enough interest. There's just not much cohesion amongst the Ismaniger Expats that I know of.
