German integration courses in Frankfurt

Info on where they're offered, how much, etc.
anitaramesh
Hi Friends,
I have heard that some places in Frankfurt have an intergartion course where german language and culture is taught . It would be nice to get information from you all if you know about it or have taken up one such course..
(I know one such course is conducted at the goethe institute but its pretty heavy on my pockets sad.gif )

The info that I am looking for is
1) where is it conducted?
2)who can apply for it?
3) how much does it cost? My info is that its around 1 euro per class...( I may be wrong unsure.gif)
4) what are their timings (as i have to squeeze this course when my kiddo attends kindergarden;) )

waiting for your responses..
Thanking all well in advance

Anita

Lots of info about integration courses in these threads. You can check and see if any are Frankfurt specific.

They all cost the same. If this one costs more, then it isn't an "Integrationskurs".

Oh, and the Ausländeramt needs to issue a certificate of entitlement (or whatever it's called) to you, otherwise you cannot get the subsidised rate of 1€/hour.

Hello

I took one with Berlitz in the centre and got my forms from the bürgemat. I must say I was not so impressed with the course at all. You get all sorts of educational backgrounds in the class; you could be sitting with a person who can not read so good in their own language and / or you get Phd people too. I wish there was a pre assessment.

But of course it is very cheap but then the trainers some how feel that we are doing this at the back of German government . I mean I stopped going after 2 months.. So if you do you loose your subsidy for this service for the months you have not attended only.

But why not try it it is not too bad but defiantly there are full of politically incorrect trainers and management out there.

Hi,

I will be moving to Frankfurt in the next few months. My Hubbie is German and I am English. I was reading your question and have also looked at some of the relating treads. I am quite confused. You fill out some form when you move to Germany, they then let you know about courses. You may quality for 1euro a hour, but need to know enough German to fill the form correctly. You may get accepted to the course, it may be cancelled as they don't like to advertise that they have these courses. You may get into this course with some poeple having a PHD and some hardly able to write. Seems like a lot of bother ! I wonder is there is a easier way? Please let me know how you get on. I would love a language and intergration course, but not if it wears me out trying to get on to it! unsure.gif

I have actually did take this course. It is of course effective but I found the trainers not so great and I have learned things and I am glad I did so too.

ANYONE CAN GET ON IT! no worry about that. I had to wait 2-3 months to join the beginners class, that's all. Just send the form when you get here. Use google translation tool if you need to about the form but you have to scan the form as text then copy and paste to google for translation.

I meant that once you on it, you have about up to 20 people in the class and they have so varied educational backgrounds.

1. Cost for the person attending is 1eu per an hour. But then rest is paid to the intitutution which is running to course by German Government so the actual course is really fully paid affair so I would have like a better quality of teaching from this point of you.

2. When you take the course one must complete it in 6 months (or 1 month at a time and complete the whole thing about 18 months form the date of application) and sit the final exam and pass it so that one is considered for German residency - if you are non EU citizen.

Well I am an EU citizen, the course open to all immigrants. I think it is fantastic idea but the teaching is limited. And the course attracts MUST LEARNERS FOR RESIDENCY that's where it goes a bit pressured and politically incorrect in my opinion. As some all sorts of frictions takes place in the class.

2. Cost of 1eu per an hour work out that you would pay 100 eu for 1 month attendance hours every day 8:45 -12:45.

3. If you are apsent more than 3 days you need a doctor's report etc tell that you were sick. And you get home work every day and hopefully learnt it all buy he next day!! This was a bit hard form me.

4. But really the best thing for me was meeting 2 nice people whom I made friends with so in a way it is great from that point of you. I would say go at least for 1 months and then quit if you don't like but must tell them before so that you don't loose a whole next months subsidy.

5. The best place is Goethe Institute but it is rather serious I heard. But I can dedicate time and money this will be my choice.

Good luck and one more thing: there are English speaking help from some church charity kind of places I am not sure what they really are, in UK they are similar to Citizen Advise Centres, I have been in one and they completed my application form at the time and it was free of charge and you can get more help in German for all document filling etc if it concerns your daily living matters here. These are area specific places and you get the list from Burgemat.
