I have suddenly learnt so much about photoshop, that I have realised how little I know for about the 20th time, would it make any sense to have a meet up of users to share ideas techniques etc.. I know there are a lot of PS haters but I find it a nice tool. Its only an idea to kick around or kick out or as is more and more common here just kick
I like it too, but I don't know a lot about it. If the meetup is to be arranged, perhaps someone needs to bring a laptop?

I'd be up for it too... I can only do basic shit though with layers, opacity, copy, paste, lasso etc. Wouldn't mind learning some more complex shit :-)

So shall we start trying to organise something, I guess we need a place to meet. any ideas?

i would definitely be interested. i've been using photoshop for 5 years, and even though i can do some nice things, i'm always surprised to see short cuts that i never knew about.
as for places to meet, i have no idea. i'm not familiar enough with munich. this may sound nerdy, but perhaps a library?
i feel like carrying around laptops in the states is more accepted than it is here. when i bring my computer out in public here, i'm afraid people think i'm an anti-social weirdo.

A library sounds like a good idea, considering the fact that we can plug in the laptop somewhere. Then we can go for a couple of drinks together if we like.
What day would be good for you guys? The best for me is weekends. I've time this weekend too.
My suggestions:
1. The
Muenchner Stadtbibliothek at
Gasteig (
Rosenheimerplatz Station) also opens its Lesesaal on Saturday 11-16 hrs. I'm not sure if laptops are allowed there. If we agree to meet there, I can call them to ask about this.
2. The allgemeiner Lesesaal of the
Bayerische Staatsbibliothek near
Odeonsplatz Station opens daily, 8-24 hrs. And I'm pretty sure we can use a laptop. However, when I was there last time, it was pretty full. But I'm not sure whether the reason was it was the time students were craming for exams. Any ideas?

Are you allowed to talk in German libraries then?
Noey
Apr 18 2008, 4:57 pm
I think there are zones in which you really have to be quiet and others in which you can talk.
If we agree on meeting in a library I mentioned, I can call them and ask about this too.

oh, and p.s. since people were mentioning these things:
i have cs2, and i have a laptop that i could bring.
even though i brought up the library thing, i'm wondering if there is some kind of bar/cafe where they wouldn't mind us coming for the meeting. i realize i can be a bit shy when meeting new people, and a little beer in my hand tends to help...

Hey,
I'm also interested in joining this session! How about a cafe/bar with wifi connection? so that we can also check out some tutorials/information online?
Not sure which cafes/bars offer those (some Coffee Fellows/SFCC/Starbucks?). I always see people with laptops there so am sure it´s not a problem.

Since this thursday is a holiday, could we make it somewhat early? For me, starting no later than 7 pm would be nice. During the day is also fine. What do you think?

it was a good thing to do - whilst I managed to forget most of what Iain told me by the time I tried it out last night, clearly the mini-forum could be a dead useful thing!

I wouldnt mind another meeting in a couple of weeks. without taking on the teacher role, would it be useful to print save the things we went through as PDF etc?
Noey
Jun 3 2008, 10:02 pm
Me too. I wouldn't mind another meetup soon, same venue. I like your idea about recording what we went through too.

Jun 10 2008, 8:40 pm
OK I have found a screen recorder and Im not buying it so it has a logo in the middle. I will record what we did, unfortunately it will have my voice over it and probably my daughter suggesting that it would be better to watch bob the builder. How about a meetup next week, thursday same time sam place
