The "4-Fahrten-Karte" public transport ticket

Advice on what this is exactly

As I was buying my train ticket today, I saw a new option called 4-Fahrten-Karte and I didn't know what it was. Here is the BVG's description in German:

4-Fahrten-Karte

(it is not up on the English side of the site.)

So is it just 4 ways on one ticket (it is 40 cents less than 4 one-way tickets)? If so, how do you validate it 4 different times?

Thanks,
Ali

Yep, its 4 trips cheaper if you buy them in advance.

Apparently you validate it 4 times by doing the top and the bottom on both sides.

The 4 thingy in Berlin is what we call Streifenkarte in the Munich area.
Transport operators don't like cash.
Transport operators prefer bulk payment at a cheaper rate.

After devaluation entitle the 4-trips cards to a trip with any change in the direction of the destination on the reiseüblichen or by the road map location path. The 4-trips cards are not transferable inaugural ride.

I was really curious about this validate 4 times thing and found out today when I bought one that it actually just prints 4 tickets. Thanks for the reply though.

Oh that's crap. I was looking forward to buying one this morning and then not having so many tickets floating around. sad.gif

In Dresden the 4er karte is one single ticket that you validate on the top and bottom of both sides when you wish to use it. However to my surprise in Berlin it is 4 individual tickets. What a waste of paper tongue.gif

Waste of time as well- I bought one today and as i put the money in the machine, a queue suddenly formed of people keen to get tickets quickly, and had to wait while as one ticket slowly printed and popped out, then the second one printed and popped out, then the third one printed and popped out... at which point people were laughing as I was clearly some mad fuckwit who was buying all the tickets out of the machine for no good reason. By the arrival of the fourth one and my change from a €20 i really felt like walking away and disowning the whole process.

They used to sell Sammelkarten, which were one ticket that you stamp 4 times (front top, front bottom, back top, back bottom) but they stopped about 10 years ago I reckon.

"front bottom"
