E.g. for a 50Hz appliance on a 60Hz power source

Hello,

i am trying to help my mum with this : she needs a frequency converter for her sewing / embroidery machines. Indeed they are made to work in a 50 Hz envirronment and, she has to move to a tiny polynesian island where it is 60 Hz. Right now she is on a tiny (french) island near Canada where she can't find this, and she has to start packing everything now.
Thanks for your help !

It's been a while, but if I remember this correctly you can change the voltage but not the cycles. The "transformers" that many US personnel use here in Germany (sold on base) convert the 220v to 110v, but it does not convert the 50Hz to 60Hz. This really isn't a huge issue unless you're using a microwave or a clock (the clock will not keep accurate time and the microwave, so I've heard, will lose it's shielding). For a sewing machine, it really shouldn't make a difference as long as you can convert the voltage.
