House surveyors in the Panketal area

Dear Toytowners,

we are looking at buying a house in Zepernick and wish to have it surveyed before putting in an offer. Has anybody experience of employing building experts to survey a house, or even better, can recommend one? Ideally we would like someone who can write up the survey report in English.

We have looked up Bausachverständiger usw. in the good old Yellow Pages (or die Gelbe Seiten actually), but rather than just start phoning down the list it would be so much better if anyone could give us tips or personal experience first. Hmm, especially as extemporizing in German over the phone is a bit daunting.

Are you planning to finance or partially-finance the house with a loan? If the loan is from a Sparkasse or similar you may find that they will send someone to look - or at least might be able to advise (at a price of course).

Actually no, we're paying in full up front. We still want to get a survey done though for our own peace of mind. And to use as evidence to bargain the price down if needs be.
