Who should I call? I am in Deisenhofen.
The squirrel climbed up a roof drainpipe (10m) and due to the antipigeon spikes can not climb back down.
Animal rescue centers seemed to only deal with animals that are rescued, not rescuing them.
We (Squirrel and I) are waiting for your help.
Thanks in advance,
take care,
space

which animal rescuers did you contact? wild animal? gosh I hope you will find help, I will try to google some myself

The Squirrels mate is running up the corner. trying to help.
Shall I just try calling the Fire department?

can you manage speaking German? if so, yes call them and they will refer you the right place. In Germany it is not as simple as just contacting an SPCA organization unfortunatly, they are more scattered and divided divisions. Let us know who will be helping after all, I am very much interested.
good luck

Call the fire department and tape the rescue mission. Oh, and call the yellow press as well, they love these incidents.
Or jump off the roof, grab the squirrels and open your chute in time to land safely, Moko can hold the camera.

i just tried this one. no speaky english but i did get another number which i am trying now.
How about wrapping that pigeon spike thinggy with towels or rags? if the squirrel is not caught on something, he might find his way down safly? just a thought
It's just a squirrel though, not a pet. I think you might lay a broomstick on the pipe and a nearby branch or something and let it crawl about.
I'm surprised a squirrel won't climb on the spiky bits though, they're not sharp or anything. Maybe he's just really stupid and should be taken out of the gene pool?
Disclosure: I was jumped by a squirrel in Hyde Park once, haven't felt charitable towards them since.

You'd better hope my dad doesn't read this. He'd be round with his air rifle.

I just got off the phone with the second number and they told me to call the FD at 112.
I am thinking about it.
space, if you cannot wrap that spiky pole with something, than call 112, or, ask a neighbour to call for you to explain the case in German

Is there any way you can put up a branch for it to climb down on?

I will finish packing my parachute and then make a decision. Squirrel is not in danger at the moment but still stuck. Its quite nice to see the other squirrels trying to help.
Take care,

edited to add: I was packing my parachute for a 300m jump in Austria for Monday or Tuesday.

how high is the drain? no ladder around?
Maybe the other squirrels chased him up there? And are making sure he doesn't even try to come back?

Germans are really strange when it comes up to strangers climbing on your apartment.

If there is a tree within 5 meters of the roof, don't worry. Those suckers are one step below birds and about equal to chickens.

Drama over. As i looked up from packing, Squirrel went for a grip on the wall and missed and somersaulted into the bushes below (on Ben and Vera's Rottweiller farm). Freaky thing was that pigeons stood just above on the roof just before. Like maybe they were trying to convey experience with the anti pigeon spikes.
Thanks for you concern. I was worried.

Bad day for squirrels. We had one trapped on a crossbeam in our car port. A baby. I managed to get it to climb into our snow shovel before it made a similar move and fell to the ground and ran off.
As for flying squirrels of the human type, space, come up to Muenster and jump with us sometime. Jump week is coming up the week of Pfingsten (
FSC Muenster - schedule under "Flugzeug Termine") and I got the week off!!!
