Are there any other Aussies in TT who fancy a get together? I have heard that there is an "official" Stammtisch advertised in "Munich Found", but I don't know if it is still going or not, so why not start our own. Maybe you are a regular TT party animal, maybe an anonymous TT forum contributor who hasn't met up with anyone yet (like me) or maybe you are one of those many lurkers out there. Either way, feel free to come. Feel free to bring your non-Aussie partners too.
When? Well another TTer told me that would have to be after the 15th for her. I am going out of town on the 20th and 21st, so it would have to be between those dates. Howsabout the 18th or 19th of Nov then?
Where? Well I am up for suggestions. Molly Malones was suggested because they apparently have fish and chips and a few of us (such as myself) have a bit of a craving for the stuff (although they probably don't have flake, dimmeys, chiko rolls or souvas like back home). I have never been there and have heard that it might be too small too. So if anyone has any other suggestions let me know.
So what do you guys think? Any takers?
PS. Shall we invite the Kiwis?
PPS Maybe we should invite the Queen, as she is in Germany. After all, she is a Top Aussie:

Bludger, I'm definitely keen for an Aussie piss-up (better not call it a Stammtisch, or anything else too un- Australian). I think we could invite the Kiwis along too, and turn it into an antipoedean event - after all, they also eat Weetbix and shit in New Zealand, and they have Daniel Vettori on their cricket team (he is FAR hotter than any of the current Aussie players). I only wonder if the Kiwis will want to join us?
Friday, Nov 19 would be a good night for a piss-up... sorry, get-together. Molly Malone's has GREAT f&c (but unfortunately n Coopers or VB on tap). But if other people have other suggestions, bring 'em on.
By the way, I was disappointed that Mel Gibson, Russel Crowe and the boys from Crowded House weren't included on that Great Aussies website, cos apparently they are all legendary 'Australian' entertainers

Weetbix yes, shit, well perhaps thats where we differ
And Crowded House are 100% Kiwi! And so is Phar Lap!

I know... I was kinda joking, cos Aussies have a terrible habit of claiming as our own successful people who actually come from other countries. Mel Gibson is actually a Yank, and Russel Crowe is a Kiwi too (and your welcome to him - I think he has some anger management problems...). Ooh, for that matter, we also try to pretend that Sam Neil is one of our own, and HE is a Kiwi too! But Shane Warne and Kylie Minogue and Ray Martin are 100% Aussie, so I don't wanna hear any claims to the contrary...
So, are the Kiwis in for a piss-up??

Ok, Kiwis are welcome, but no talking about rugby, because Melbournians such as myself don't understand such exotic sports.

Since yall metioned Shane Warne and Kylie Minogue's booty in the same line perhaps I should join as a neutral umpire while you are trading punches.
Daniel Vettori is HOT? Really?
Sometimes I wish to be a woman for a day to see what is hot and what is not from a woman's angle.

You wish you were a woman for a day? Another piece of the puzzle falls into place!

Cheers!

Hubby and I will be there with bells on as it's just after payday.

Nov. 19th is perfect for me, since I'll be buying a train ticket that day anyway.

So it's Molly's then on Friday the 19th? What time? If we are meeting for dinner (and that could be a good idea, cos I need some bloody fish and chips ASAP), should we say 7ish?
Oh, and should I bake Anzac bikkies for the occasion?

7pm sounds good to me. If you want to bake some Anzac bikkies, that would be brilliant. I haven't had any of them for yonks. I think I forgot they even existed.
Re. Murphys: I rarely go to such Irish pub hellholes myself, but Fish and Chips sounded too good to miss. Do you know if we need to book a table at Molly's?

You can add another Kiwi to the "coming for a piss up" list, and you can keep Crowded House as honorary Aussies. I went to school with Liam, the son of Neil Finn, Liam and I were in a play together in High School and I had to play a song on the guitar and later on his Dad said I was crap.

He said Liam should have played. OK, so Liam now has a reasonably successfull band and I still plod away on Stairway to Heaven...
Are these fush and chups english style or our style?

Sounds great, I'll be there.
PS I met Daniel Vettori's sister Kim at a New Year's I think it was 2001, and she is also hot so if Caitlin is to be believed, it runs in their family...

@bludger
I got you an answer wrt booking a table
Fish and Chips - where to get them. Apparently it would be best. You gonna do the booking?

Nov 10 2004, 1:18 pm
Ok I'll book it, no worries. Perhaps I'll wait Monday though, so I know how many to book for.

I'm meeting up with an Aussie friend tonight (another newbie here in München), so I'll check out if he wants to head along next Friday too. Then I'll let you know numbers by next Monday (15th) ok... Can't wait - the fish and chips, the Anzac bikkies, the dirty goss about Delta's break-up from the Poo...

From the replies, it looks like 9 or 10 are coming, 10 if Caitlin's friend comes. That would include my other half, but did not include those who didn't explicitely say they are coming.
Rootsherbal: did you want to come, or was that just a joke. Northern-hemispherers are of course welcome, if they don't mind putting up with a bunch of nostalgic Aussies and Kiwis.
Any others out there who want to come, please reply with a definite yes by Monday so that I can book.
I'm also looking forward to fush and chups, even if it is English style and without flake or dim sims. And Anzac bikkies - great. (Does anyone know how to make Lamingtons???)

Ok bludger, my mate's not coming for dinner cos he has to work (some Aussie he is, hey!)... but may show up later, around 10ish. Guess it's still about 9 for dinner then? Are u booking sometime this week?
By the way, I did a trial run of Anzac bikkies yesterday and they were a great success...

So we have had one cancellation and one new reservation, so we are still at 10 people.
Lacking imagination, I booked it under the name Jones (pronounced Yohn-es here in Germany).
