I have been very busy rushing around on the U & S bahn today. It seems everywhere i turned Converse were trying to sell me their bloody trainers. This campaign is absoluty everywhere.
I wouldnt mind so much if the campaign wasn't so dis-respectful. I mean using pictures of people that have died young (Sid Vicious and Ian Curtis) with super imposed converse on their feet. It's just not on!
Last year Doc Martens' did something very simlar and were brought down for it. I hope Converse gets treated the same.

I can't say anything about this ad campaign, since I haven't seen it, but damn they've got some great infant shoes! I just bought a pair of Chuck Taylors for my 5-month old, and they're sooo cute (totally impractical, but insanely adorable)!

Hmm... There was an article about just this very topic in one of my papers recently...
(Search... Search...) And here it is:
QUOTE (Krissi Murison of the NME writing in The Guardian (UK) @ Mar 21 2008)
The reason Converse appears to be succeeding where Dr Martens failed is that, marketing crap aside, it is true that Converse and rock'n'roll are one of the snuggest fits there has ever been between art and commerce...

I'm constantly pissed off by the Ducati Puma ads. It is like no one with a clue looked at the shoes beforehand. White shoes with no guard are not for motorcycles!

I was really hoping someone made a competitor to the expensive, yet great, dainese shoes too.

"Krissi Murison of the NME" then we know its bollock
Sid Vicious and Ian Curtis sod the both of them they died ages ago and might be outside 'Anyone can do what you like with my image after 25 years of my death rule'. They are using Hunter S Thomson's image it is a disgrace. I cant imagine the Thomson estate allowing that to happen.

I guess if Thomson was alive he'd be talking to his
Attorney.
Converse were
bought out by Nike in July 2003.

I'm sick of seeing converse everywhere anyway. Like ok they're alright but I don't see why they are the worlds greatest shoe.

Hunter Thompson wore Chucks all the time. I'm guessing he wouldn't have given a shit. This is the guy that wrote an ESPN column for shits a giggles.

Hunter S Thompson wore Chucks all the time. Thats true but I don't think he wanted to do a photoshopped advert for them.
But anyway the offending posted is no gone.
