I did some mild searching and couldn't find anything that really covered what I want to know. I will jump off and search the rest of the internet in a second however I am traveling to prague with my parents in a couple of weeks and I was wondering which type of Audi I should drive.. Now my flight dates are and I'm flying Economy executive.. Um yeah actually what I want to know is if the czech rail system has a equivalent of sort of thing as the bayern ticket. The Bayern-boehmen ticket only covers the area up to and including Pilsen, but beyond that Die Bahn wants you to pay 24 euros a head for the ride b/w Pilsen and Prague. I remember reading somewhere many moons ago that they had a ticket that covered the rail in a similar fashion to the bayern ticket at a moderate price. So I was thinking since this is a road often traveled by people on this forum (a fair assumption I think) people would probably know the answer to this question or be able to give me some nice juicy tips to proceed forward. I was down at the DB kiosk here in freising a couple of minutes ago and the lady who was EXTREMELY helpful blink.gif didn't know anything about it. Since she was so helpful in so many other ways, really she was I'm not being sarcastic, I assume that I couldn't get anything like that through DB anyway and would have to buy it on the train to prague.

I don't think they do, but rail travel is so cheap anyway you just pay cash fares as and when you need them. Budweis to Cesky Krumlov, for example, cost about €1 each.

Don't forget to post a video when you get back. wink.gif

Oh I definately won't, but what brand of clothes should I wear for the video? Oh the decisions..

STB the girl at DB quoted 24 euros per person one way as the fare. If I get crowns and pay on the train would it be cheaper?

There are 2 different deals similar to BayernTicket in concept:

RegioNet CZK 130 for one person, CZK 260 for up to 5 people in LOCAL trains only on a regional base:

SONE+
CZK 130 for one person for LOCAL trains only anywhere in Czech Republic at weekends.
CZK 390 for one person for any train anywhere in Czech Republic at weekends.

Sorry, the links are in Czech, you MIGHT find them in English or German on the site.

But as STB said you are probably better off just paying the standard fares if you are just doing day trips out of Prague.
For the section Plzen-Prague just tell the conductor who gets on the train at Domazlice what you want and they will sell it to you.
Plzen-Prague costs around 5 Euros-ish.

I found that going to Pardubice from Prague, you're better off getting your ticket at the counter, and buying a return at the same time.
Small Town Boy
Yeah, you can queue up at the counter, or use the machines. Or buy your ticket on the train. Anything really, as long as you pay in the Czech Republic, in Kroner, rather than giving your money to Deutsche Bahn.

Once you get to the border, 17 empty Gambrinus bottles can be redeemed for a ticket to Prague. 27 for return. But only 11 if you have footage of your consumption.

Or you could get a Rail Plus card for 600 kc at any train station in CZE (bring a passport photo), which allows for steeply discounted group travel. And it's valid for four years.
MonksTown
In-Karte which is the newly reevampled Cech Rail card cost me CZK 300 for 3 years and it give about 25% off standard tickets.
If you are a real Czech rail whore like me, maybe get it.
Otherwise too much hassle.

CD does offer deals, must mostly ONLY in the Czech language.
"Special deal", I travel from Domazlice to Cadca or Breclav for CZK 320 on my way to Slovakia using the Kilometrika Banka.

But, I "get around". wink.gif

Any eastern European train questions, glad to help. smile.gif

NOTE: The deoposit on beer bottles in CR is CZK 3 and in SK, SKK 4.
Cans have no deposit but tend to be dearer.

And the new logo of Cesky Drahy Freight? Spatny!
