Hi,
I have been (almost) offered an au pair job in Heidelberg. I have been doing this work in a different part of Germany for awhile now, so I am not worried about that aspect. But I was working in a small town and had a bit of trouble making friends and having a social life etc! I really want to move to Munich, and I may be able to get a job there too, but this family sound lovely. So I was wondering if there are many young, English speakers around (my German is at a survival, not social, level). I am 23 so anywhere around that would be good. Have people found it easy to make friends there, and how did you do it? Is there a lot of interesting things to do there? Any other tips would be great too!
Thanks!
I'm new in Heidelberg, too, so I can't offer much advice; however, if you want to meet-up once you arrive drop me a message here. BTW- I'm a 28 year old female graduate student.

From What I know of Heidelberg, it is a nice town with a good number of students so meeting people in your age group shouldn't be a problem. As far as my knowledge goes, there is quite a lot to do but hat also depends on your tastes. Anyway best of luck with the move, I will be moving to that area myself in June/July.
There are lots of young English speakers here, you could always join this
Group if you like pub quizzes.
