You can tolarate it, but to enjoy, something must be enjoyable. For that you must like it.
So, we need to empathize and tolarate the differences, but I think itis diffult to enjoy unless you like the difference yourself.

I find rotten.com pretty offensive, unfortunately I can't access it from work, so I am not getting adequete offense. I also find DR pretty offensive, pity he's not around so much to offend me, and other right minded people. Oh and many people find my name offensive.

In defense of every expat who isn't a complete dickhead I'd say what makes some expats on TT tick is hardly representative of the expat community, much as some bigmouthed louts on here would like to claim it is.

For the love of God, "Here here!" used when "Hear, hear!" is meant could be seen to be about a similar level of annoyance as the "Kraut/Krout" one to others.

LittleSprite, have I expressed issue with any of those things? You're the one going off on a big whinge-fest, sweetheart. I'm actually quite happy here, Germany and TT. I suspect the biggest issue you face is that you simply don't get what the Toytown Germany discussion forum is all about. You spoke earlier of ignorance, perhaps take an inwards look and you might go at least some way to getting on the right track. Oh, and just quoting someones post back at them verbatim has to be about the weakest method of argument I've ever seen.

I'm not all that happy with TT. I'd love to see the general tone of the posts taken up a notch, but I hang around for the occasional interesting thread and in the hopes that the grown-ups will eventually take back over.

Absolutely and TT has them both in abundance as well as a brazilian other things. Engage in that which you wish to engage in and simply ignore anything else. There's something here for everyone. If you feel the need to continually bitch and moan about one particular aspect to the point that it's obvious you can't let it go then perhaps TT is simply not the place for you. You being one rather than you specifically.

I simply applied your logic to the likes of DonRiina. Don't you think it's weird that somebody like him (or Expaticus) stays in this country? Sure it's easier to switch message boards than to actually move to another country but all the bitterness that comes across in their posts would suggest that they really don't do themselves a favour by staying here.

And as far as TT is concerned - I get it that there's the "management" that is ok with the German bashing, that there's a limited number of people who get a kick out of it - and that there's quite a number of expats who are tired of it. As I said - complaining is one thing, criticism is fine - being an obnoxious arsehole with every single post is something entirely different though...and unfortunately from what I've seen that's what DonRiina is all about.

Most expats I've met in real life are friendly, intelligent, outgoing and open-minded - qualities that I feel are a bit underrepresented in some of self-proclaimed spokespersons of the TT community.

That's the crux of this entire thread, at least for those of you taking it seriously. Why on earth do you care what an anonymous nobody writes on an internet forum? It's fun stirring you up but if we stop to think about it it's really you who needs a week of relaxation somewhere and to stop taking irrelevant crap to heart. Apart from ignoring the fact that half of what's written here is done so with tongue firmly in cheek the entire opinion based threads on this board is utterly irrelevant to anything that could possibly influence any part of our lives.
