I noticed TK Maxx, Ikea, and Höffner will all be open for shopping this Sunday on April 6th, 2008.
Is this a city-wide thing or a special occasion? What's the scoop on this, anyone know?

Regions are allowed Sunday opening on four Sundays a year. It's up to the local council to decide which Sundays they choose. In towns, it's usually combined with funfairs, markets and other wholesome family entertainment. In the retail estates, it's just an extra opportunity to mong around a furniture store along with all the other bored families.

Correct me if I'm wrong... isn't it that Hamburg is special that shops aren't ever open on Sundays, but in surrounding areas it's different. Again, may be wrong, but aren't the shops in say, Ahrensburg open on one Sunday per month? I had a friend who lived there and I visited her on a few Sundays where this was the case.

I know that some shops downtown (like on Colonaden) are planning on staying open.

Is there a published list of the Sunday shopping days? I always seem to miss them and never know when they are on.
