These two things appear on a doctor's bill. What's the difference? Are they charging me to look at the affected foot, then also charging me to actually tell me what they've found?

eingehende Beratung = detailed consultation with explanation of the illness/injury and instructions on how to treat it at home
symptombezogene Untersuchung = examination under consideration of the symptoms

So one is talking, the other is poking and prodding.

I think it means that you're privately insured and the doctor is trying to put anything on the bill that s/he can think of. Or the assistant's doing it. Hard to really justify examining someone without also explaining what it's all about.
