Who's quizzing tomorrow night? I'm up for it.
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 23 2002, 9:18 pm
I'll be there. Usual table - reserved or not.
Jake McVitie
Oct 23 2002, 9:30 pm
I'll be there too. Are we gonna reserve our usual table through our favourite O'Reilly's beer wench again? OK, I'll do it - Hey You! We know you're reading - the table in the left-hand corner again please! See you there, cheers!
Jake McVitie
Oct 23 2002, 9:32 pm
Oh, and another thing, I think we should coordinate how many are gonna be on our team in advance this time. If we have to split into two again surely it softens our chances? A team of 6 brains can only be better than a team of 4, no? And lets not blow our booby prize ticket on the Music round this time either. I say we use it for the science round, where we're more sure to get some right.
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 23 2002, 9:37 pm
We might need more than 1 table if we have a full turnout. So far we've got 4 definites -- me + 1, Hazza, Jake.
Aquatic will probably be there, possibly with "French Bloke", and I'm waiting to hear back from someone else who might come.
Thats a possible 7, and if Hoddy + 1 and Koala turn up aswell it could be 10.

Oct 23 2002, 9:57 pm
I'll have to ask + one if he wants to attend. What is the best way to split up the teams? I succeed in the "current events" "famous people pictures" etc, so it would behoove us to have a mix of strong suits in the teams. Either that or we can cheat.
AquaticMeringue
Oct 23 2002, 10:15 pm
Yeah I'll be there as usual, and so will French Bloke.

Oct 24 2002, 8:03 am
I shall be there as well!

Can't make it tonight to the quiz. + 1 has to get up early for UNI. Good luck everyone.

We won (162 euros). Silke was there as well, as she seemed sad that she didn't get to meet you, Hoddy.

Oct 25 2002, 10:45 am
I'm crushed to have missed her
Jake McVitie
Oct 25 2002, 11:07 am
I know you're being sarcastic, Hoddy, but you don't need to feel crushed. I met her and I have to say that she is as tedious in real-life as she is online. It's rare that I come across someone with whom I have such a strong personality clash, but she is one of them. One out of three or four people in my entire life. God, I hope she never crashes our pub quiz team again.
And just for the record, her standard of German is pretty poor. Ok, so she can speak it fluently, but it is a very very long way from native standard. When she speaks German it is basically Australian but using the German words - i.e. badly pronounced, an obvious accent.

Oct 25 2002, 11:57 am
Jake, when you say she "crashed" your quiz game do you mean she was in the building or she's deranged and actually came and "crashed" it in the classic sense of the word and made an annoyance of herself? If it's the latter then I'm really glad I didn't show.
I don't need a criminal record here in Germany.
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 25 2002, 12:43 pm
To be fair, she was quite well-behaved considering how much abuse she's taken from us on the-other-forum-that-shall-not-be-named.
To be honest though, I'm not sure why she bothered to stick around so long - if I was in her position I certainly wouldn't have wanted to spend an evening hanging around with us lot.

Hoddysded, a criminal record might come in handy if you're ever thinking of going to Australia...

Oct 28 2002, 9:57 pm
Word on the street, from the cow's mouth herself, is that the next time Toytowners show up for the O.R. quiz they will be kicked out or "abused."
I suggest a boycott. Tell 150 of your closest friends.
Go piss up a rope half-wit.
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 28 2002, 11:00 pm
Well, as much as I'd love to go along to see her attempt to chuck us out, I won't be able to make it this week, and possibly not next week either.
I'll look forward to reading the fight review here...
Hazza
Oct 28 2002, 11:53 pm
I'll be there again this week. I haven't abused her yet, so I'll be quite offended if she abuses me or attempts to chuck me out.

Oct 29 2002, 9:06 am
Well, I will have to come and see what this pub quiz is about sometime. As for this Thursday though, I am kidnapping several Toytown Females for a dinner. I'll see you all there maybe next week? And Hazza, no one could abuse you, could they?

Nov 6 2002, 7:26 pm
Who is turning up for tomorrow night's quiz?
AquaticMeringue
Nov 7 2002, 12:43 am
Probably me. French bloke said "probably" when I asked him earlier as well, and another friend of mine is a "very likely". Spud isn't coming though, apparently, due to a severe case of lazybastarditus.
Hazza
Nov 7 2002, 1:40 am
I'll be there, and I'll be bringing a couple of friends too

Nov 7 2002, 9:35 am
Is there going to be space for little me as well...
AquaticMeringue
Nov 7 2002, 10:35 am
Of course! We can always split into multiple teams if there are too many of us, anyway.
hoddysded
Nov 7 2002, 11:15 am
Yeah Koala, you have to come! I think we will have to split into two teams. I'm bringing + 1 and I know of two other Toytown ladies that are planning on attending so it looks like we will have around 11 people. I'm going to go early and get the table on the left (even if it's reserved this time) so see you all there.
Jake McVitie
Nov 7 2002, 11:35 am
I've told a couple of Toytowners off-forum that I would be there. Well, change of plan. I am too busy with work, so, seeya next week maybe. Good luck!
Oh, but incidently, I may be able to help you out even if I'm not there in person - if you know what I mean.
hoddysded
Nov 7 2002, 3:58 pm
Sorry you can't make it Jake but thanks for the offer of assistance.
Ok, I've reserved the two tables in the left hand corner. Told the Australian lady who answered the phone  that it would be between 10-15 people.
AquaticMeringue
Nov 7 2002, 4:04 pm
I'm pretty sure there's only one Australian-sounding woman who works in O'Reilly's.
Someone please bring a camera.

Nov 7 2002, 4:55 pm
Yeah, maybe we could get a group hug photo.
Jake McVitie
Nov 8 2002, 10:39 am
How'd it go then? Any fights? Any group hugs? Photos?
Malcolm Spudbury
Nov 8 2002, 10:45 am
Presumably the team didn't win, otherwise they'd all have been here gloating about it by now 8)
hoddysded
Nov 8 2002, 10:59 am
Not a sign of her Jake so alas, no group photos. We actually had two teams. Hazza and his team took second place and got the wine. I had strategically put +1 on that team to increase our odds of winning something so at least I got a bottle of wine. I can't remember what our team placed at.
Honestly, without the aid of any search engines or outside help, does anybody know what kind of an animal a Dic Dic is?
Jake McVitie
Nov 8 2002, 11:31 am
A Dic Dic? I'm sure there's a joke in there but because I don't have a sense of humour I can't think of one. Is it like a Dodo?
hoddysded
Nov 8 2002, 12:15 pm
I'm sure there is a joke in there too but because I don't have an imagination I can't think of one.
That was one of the questions last night at the quiz which nobody had the foggiest idea of how to answer. It's a type of antelope!
I'm really stupid apparently.
AquaticMeringue
Nov 14 2002, 10:09 am
I'll be at the pub quiz tonight as usual, at around 8pm.
Hazza
Nov 14 2002, 11:08 am
I'll also be back tonight.
One of my team mates last week had some idea about animals and we wrote deer as our answer to dic dic. I reckon that's pretty close.

I'll be there without +1 tonight. Know of at least three other lasses who are going to show too.

Nov 15 2002, 9:23 am
Do wolves go Ruff??? How did it go last night? Did you win?
hoddysded
Nov 15 2002, 11:15 am
Well, wolves are like dogs aren't they, so I assume they go ruff.
We had two teams, my team came in behind the other team (they won the wine again!) and nobody won the jackpot. Next week's prize will be huge.
Malcolm Spudbury
Nov 20 2002, 1:58 pm
If we're going to go tomorrow someone needs to get there early to camp on a couple of tables and make sure we've got enough seats. Last week was fucking packed and a load of our group had to stand because the gits at the next table robbed most of the stools...
hoddysded
Nov 20 2002, 3:59 pm
How early Spud? I can be there between 7 and 7:30 but I'm going to be alone so I can only camp out on one table, two max, if they aren't being territorial with the tables like they have started recently.
Malcolm Spudbury
Nov 20 2002, 4:29 pm
About 7 I reckon, although that's what time I got there last week and our regular table was already taken. We should have been able to get the other 2 but we weren't fast enough and the others got it.

Nov 20 2002, 6:29 pm
