We're planning to stay with my mum and 2 boys (5 and 3) in or around Garmisch in May and would welcome any suggestions that work with being near any "small child/OAP friendly" hiking/biking trails.

Thanks

Just have a look at the Garmisch website, there are a gazillion places to stay.

Eibsee Hotel.

The trails around here vary from "slightly difficult walk" to "I'll never go up there again" and there are a few through the town which are quite scenic without being exhausting. If you could answer a couple of questions I would be happy to make some recommendations.

As the boys are young what would be the longest distance or time you would like them to be walking?
For yourself and your Mum, how would you describe your level of fitness; some of the trails can be steep and may not be suitable for occasional hill walkers.

If you are looking for a great friendly Ferienwohnungen to stay try the Biersack's house. They are great rooms, from a 2 bed to 5 bed, very clean and tidy and at a good price. They also have the Avis car rental business. Their email is Ferienwohnungen@biersack.com.

Eibsee Hotel.

They are probably looking for something a little more reasonably priced!

Thanks for the tips so far - was aware of the Eibsee already, but those little bits of "local knowledge" are great.

One lad is 5 almost 6 and can walk a few kilometers as per my mum I guess - the little one could be put in a back pack at a push - so I guess "rolling inclines" is appropriate if such a thing exists!

cheers
Louise
