Hotel recommendations for Mainau

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay in min-May around Bodensee for my dear old mum and our family with 2 small boys (5 and 3)? Someone said the flowers in Mainau are amazing at that time?

I can't recommend any hotels but I would suggest to stay in Konstanz (in case you don't know it yet). My sister lives there and I since I visited her I'm a great fan. The centre and the harbour are magnificent, the houses were built from 1200 - 1500. I'm sure your mom and you will like it.

Anywhere in that region would be nice; Radolfzell would be good. I've stayed at the Krone in the centre of town and can recommend it – traditional and nice. You can get a boat or train to Mainau from there. I don't think there are any hotels on Mainau itself (it's an island). From Radolfzell it's also quick and easy to get to Konstanz, or to the other jewel of the region, namely Meersburg.

Staying in konstanz is a one good option as from there you can reach mainau by bus, or on bike and also the placs is a real beauty..

We like to visit Mainau regularly and, as we live north of Munich, we normally stay in Meersburg. Good ship connections directly onto the island of Mainau and then there is the wine tasting when you get back in the evening.
