Hi there

I am hoping someone can give me some advice on the translation market out here. I have a degree in French and Spanish and am quite good at Translations from those languages into English and I also do some interpreting in my current job. I've done some translating work for a few people, but all favours and unpaid.

I'm thinking of going back to university to get my Masters in Interpreting and Translation. I was just wondering however, how necessary this is. Also, what sorts of opportunities are there out here for that kind of work? I mean, I would assume there would be a lot of freelance work, over the internet. My German is completely basic, but I don't intend for it to remain that way.

I guess what I'd like to know is how did any of the translators here get started in their careers? Is a Masters really necessary, as a qualification? I'd appreciate any advice/ words of wisdom.

Thanks a lot!
