Smoking ban in Saxony Anhalt - Germany

I thought there was a smoking ban in force in Saxony Anhalt. However everytime I've been out I've been covered in clouds of smoke. Can anyone tell me what exactly is the law now?

You stupid old duffer, if you read the newpaper now and again instead of thumbing through the nudey mags you might have an idea of what's going on. The pubs and restaurants have a period of grace until July 2008. Then your favourite boozer must have a separate room for smokers or smoking won't be allowed in the establishment. However to make things more complicated it's being contested in the courts. The owners want to decide for themselves if their pub is a smoking or non-smoking pub.

So big fat cigars all round on Friday before we're forced to stand outside in the rain.
