I've just moved to Berlin for about 6 weeks as part of my PhD studies. I've never been here before and know absolutely noone! The accomdation I'm in is very very basic and just wondering if anyone has any advicce as to where I could pick up a cheap kettle? I'm living near Dahlem in Delbruckstrasse, 14139.

Thanks.

Just boil water in a pan.

What a strange question.
Ebay seems the obvious place. New ones for around €15, used ones from €5 - all plus shipping. Or visit any electrical store. Cheap kettles are often to be had for €10-15

sometimes a larger grocery store might have cheap ones for about 10 euro, or try Woolworths or Real if there is one close by.

I got one for about €10 at Pfennigland upstairs in the Berlin Carré near Alexanderplatz.

Can definitely get a kettle from Woolworths. There is a branch on the corner of Kurfustenstrasse/Potsdamer Str ( U1 to Kurfusrtenstr) or, maybe a bit closer to you, there's one in Steglitz, on Schlossstrasse, which is on the U9 line. Happy brewing! ( For decent tea, try some of the Oriental supermarkets, such as on Hauptstrasse in Schoneberg... they do PG Tips, Heinz beans, Marmite etc)
