the baseboards... thast what they are called then?
They also have similar ones that can go int he middle of the wall and where the wall and ceiling meet...

aha... crown molding!! I figured it out... typed baseboards into google and it also came up with crown molding...

crown moldings are usually not made out of plaster anymore u can get them in Styrofoam. look very good especially if u have a high ceiling. my dads done the house with a lot of crown molding (house is from 1902).

The bottom cross rail would be called a kick plate. It would be an arched kick plate in this case.

Base board is American in England they are called skirting boards
