Hello!, I arrived in Frankfurt a few months ago but still I don't know anybody here and since I don't speak German (yet), the interaction with the "locals" is nearly impossible.
I would like to meet some people and to make new friends (possibly in the Frankfurt area).
I am Italian but I speak a decent English ... or at least I hope so smile.gif ghghgh I also speak French and, of course, Italian so if somebody is interested in doing Tandems that's an option too.

Hi

I was born in Frankfurt but moved to the Philippines and then later to Vietnam. I arrived back here a few years ago and being a German and all, I tried to mingle with some of the "local" crowd
but noticed that I have too much "expat" in me to really fit in. I live in the Europaviertel, the posher part of the Gallusviertel (stop laughing, it's true). I had an awesome time with some aussies the other day, and that's when I realized... I need more english speaking people around me, then I stumbled on TT, and well here I am.

I speak fluent English, French and German, as well as some Spanish once I have a few gin tonics in me biggrin.gif

Looking forward to meeting new people,

Raphael

Hi my name is Joey (female). I am new to the forum but have found a lot of helpful information about relocating to Germany. I am 36, married, and I have four children (3 girls, 20, 18, 16, and a boy, 14), and we currently live in West Palm Beach, FL. My family is wanting to relocate to Germany at the first of the year. My husband is an IT professional specializing in .net and writing web-based software for financial institutions and other large corporations. I am working on my Master's Degree (2 classes left) but I am also a certified TEFL teacher and an author (just finished my first novel). We are excited about the idea of moving, if not more than a little intimidated by all of the hoops foreigners have to jump through (the health insurance, the pension fund, the taxes on freelancers, visas) plus the differences in renting property in Germany versus the US. I am terrified we will rent a place and walk in to find no stove, no counters, no lights. We are looking to be in the Frankfurt area if all goes as planned by January 15, 2009. I would like to start meeting people and would really like to get my kids (two youngest are coming with us) involved with something that will help them to meet other kids their age. Any advice or warnings (sent to my pm so as not to clutter the board) would be great. I am trying to learn as much German as possible before the move. I am at a Low/Pre-Intermediate level now, but I think it will get better once I am around people who speak German (practicing on my 16 year old who rolls her eyes and says "Whatever Mom, you're so dumb," isn't much of a help). I hope to get to meet some of you guys face to face once we are there and settled in and thanks for the good information posted throughout the forum.

Hi all!

I'm kind of new to Frankfurt, lived here 2 years ago and have decided to come back and work here.

Still trying to settle in and find somewhere to live (seems impossible at the moment) but would love to meet up with people for a coffee, drink etc and make some new friends.

Hope to see some of you soon!

Hi All,

I just got here a couple days ago and met some of you at Curry night on Wednesday; and I'm sure I'll see some of you tonight at Friday Night Drinking . . . Josh, I'm living in Griesheim as well at the moment. Any cool places to hang out here? I notice there's an Irish pub (O'Reilly's, perhaps?), but I haven't tried it out yet.

HI,

Just found this forum... have been living in the Nordend area for about 6 months now. Originally from Australia, but working for a London company. Flying to London for 3 days a week and working from home the other 2 days.

I've been looking for a German course here on weekends, but haven't been able to find one. Only found courses during the week, could do a German course in london on weekdays, but that just seems silly to me. Anyone know of a good weekend german course here in Frankfurt?

Cheers

p.s. I use to work at O'Reillys. Good place for a beer or a night out

Hi All,

I've been in Frankfurt for 16 months now, but just found the Toytown page when I was searching for Erste Hilfe classes in English, so I have only just joined. I moved here from Tampa Florida and work in Banking. I'm working on speaking German but always interested in an evening at an Irish Pub speaking English! Since I've relocated here permanently, it will be good to keep my English working...
Cheers
